With so many different options and so many different grit numbers offered on Amazon, I chose this one as a good balance between pricing, parts included, and the grit numbers. Having never used a sharpening stone before, I had some misgivings about whether or not I can use the stone effectively. So, when the item arrived, I looked at some YouTube videos and practiced on a cheap knife I had before using it on my set of J.A. Henckels. I was able to quickly master how to use the stone. Not much to it. Just have to keep the stone wet and hold the knife at a steady angle. The grit 1000/6000 combination seemed to work very well. It brought my cheap knife back to life, and certainly the J.A. Henckels knifes. Even a part of the blade that was chipped vanished. The bamboo base solidly holds the stone, no problems with slipping even with water all over. I don't know if there are better stones out there, but this one worked for me.

I am a professional chef and thi has been a great purchase - I use Tojiro DP knives and this stone is a great one to keep my edge - pair this with a leather strop to get an even more refined edge - happy cooking - the edge guide is also a nice bonus -

The stone is beautiful and sharpened my knives very well. The two sides are very well marked and the difference in color make it very easy to recognize the sharpening and honing sides The base was broken when I received it and the seller took care of it right away.

This product is really great! Very well made, especially for the price. Makes my knives super sharp. Definitely worth it.

This is a really good sharpening stone! I’ve been looking for a knife sharpening device for my dull knives after trying so many different brands and all of them failing, I bought and tried this one and it’s just as described. I have sharpened several knives and this stone is much better than the electric sharpener I have. I'm so happy with this item and May is so sweet and very kind, highly recommend it.

I have been using sharpening stones for so many years but wanted something bigger and able to sharpen expensive kitchen knives. This whetstone does a really great job with just little effort to get a very nice edge. It sharpens all my knives. and scissors, and even shaving razors. I have even used it on my pocket knives and the results are great! A great buy!
