CONAIRUpdo Stick - Updo Versatility

I bought this brand of hairstick from a drugstore a few years back but I lost it. The drugstore no longer carried them so I had to turn to Amazon to get another one. Compared to the first one, this hairstick is very cheaply made. What used to be a sturdy plastic stick and a thick hair elastic is now a thin, flimsy plastic stick and a very thin hair elastic. When I try to put it in my hair it feels like I'm going to snap it in half with how easy it bends and warps. I've used it several times since it's arrival and while it holds my hair up okay at the moment, I do fear I'm going to break it everytime I attempt to use it which makes for a more loose updo than I would prefer.It's also difficult and very awkward to manipulate while actively trying to put it in my hair however once I've got it securely in place it holds my hair back okay.Does it serve its purpose? Yes.Am I confident that it will stand the test of time? Absolutley not.I will not be returning this and I will continue to use it until it breaks but I will not be buying a replacement when it does. That is unless they go back to thier original durability.*Photo is to show how easily bendable the plastic stick is. My original hairstick could not be bent at all.Also, the original hairstick was a solid, rigid stick with a hole in the blunt end where the hair elastic was threaded through. This one is hollow all the way through which is what contributes to its flexibility.They just don't make things the way they used to.

I like the concept, but the design of this item does have a few flaws. It's basically a stick with a black hairtie at the end. I have super thick hair, and I was surprised that this updo stick was so loose. It was definitely not the tight twist or bun that I am used to. It would be fine for casual wear like having a pencil stuck in your hair, but if you are looking for something that can hold your hair all day, then you'll need to order a lot of bobby pins with this updo stick. Also, over time, I can see the elastic hairtie breaking at the end. I could double loop another one through the middle, but for the price, I was expecting a little bit better quality.

I have shoulder-length, wavy, fairly thick hair. The Conair Updo Stick is my go-to for the gym, work, and formal events. I recently went from a hard core interval training class to a concert, and someone asked me if I had been at a wedding because my hair looked so nice! It literally takes 30 seconds to do. Always have a couple in my purse in case of a bad hair day. Depending on the length of my layers and the look I want, I may use one, two, or three. Please never stop making these!

This little gizmo has been such a lifesaver in the Arizona summer heat! I had usually put my hair up in a ponytail, but my neck was always still hot. With this contraption, all I need to do now is twist the hair up, slide the stick through horizontally, and loop the elastic over the ends. That's it. No more hairspray, loose ends, or slipping hairstyles. This puppy stays in all day, and I mean all day. I ordered three more for my daughter and my sisters-in-law.

Gave this 4 stars because it's not pretty in my opinion, but..... I'm pleasantly surprised. I have long fine fair and this works great, and is really comfortable. Easy to put up and go. Having a sensitive scalp near the top if my head, it doesn't take long before other hair accessories really pull and hurt after awhile if not right away. Finally found something that works, is comfortable, and extremely easy to use.

I love this thing! I have longish fine thin hair and I am always looking for an easy way to pull it back off my neck. A pony or bun is fine, but this is cute! I wore to the beach the other day and my hair stayed up all day even in the wind (although I did not go into the water). Very pleased!

I never write reviews.... I had one of these and couldn't find them anywhere. I amSo happy Amazon carries them. I have baby fine hair and I'mPretty spastic with hair ...but this works great. I keep one in my nightstand and one in my pocketbook . I ordered 2 more I want to keep 1 in the car and one in my desk at work.

I have thin hair that is a little longer than shoulder length. This updo stick makes it easy to put my hair up, and it stays up. I have had compliments on my hair with this updo stick. If something happened to my new updo stick, I would buy another one.
