Review: I needed a downspout extension that would fit on my battered metal downspout. I thought this would do the trick, and the price seemed competitive for two flexible extenders. There are four pieces in the package (not six, plus screws, as in the product description)--two pieces for each extension. It's really easy to attach them, as they just screw together. It was also easy to attach the extension to my old metal downspout. I just pushed it on, and it stayed! I don't think screws would have been needed even if they'd been included. I moved the extension around so it would provide water for a small wildflower garden. I also tried bending it, and that worked just fine as well, with the hose staying in the bent position. My concerns are, first, that this is a large and not very attractive item to have in the garden and, second, it has a really big opening at the drainage end. I'm afraid animals might nest inside, plugging it up and defeating its purpose (or, worse, drowning when it rains). I'm keep it in place for now and will see how it works. I'll update my review if there are any problems. Updated on 12/17/22: I feel a little ridiculous admitting this, but I realized that the larger square piece that came attached to the hose is an either/or option, depending on how large your downspout is. I hadn't even realized it was detachable until I read some of the other reviews for this product. I was able to easily unscrew it and now have only the hose extending out. The drainage end without the big square piece isn't as large or as clunky, so I'm adding a star. I'm leaving it at four stars though (rather than my initial three), as I feel some kind of instructions would have been helpful, just in case someone else is as clueless as I am.

This set of downspout extensions is a great way to divert water away from your house. I ordered these to replace some older extenders that we have, which had become brittle and cracked over time. It's too early to see how these will hold up for the long term - but so far so good, and I fully expect them to last many years without issue. Importantly, the various parts are intended to be connected in a screw-like manner. When I first looked at the parts, It looked like the end of the tube had cracked. After taking a closer look, I realized that the end connector are intended to be attached (and/or removed) by screwing one part inside the other. Accordingly, you can attach the right size fitting to connect with your downspouts - and remove the large fitting if you don't need it, for a cleaner look. I really like that the set included self drilling screws. My previous extenders would end up rolling around on my lawn at least twice a month, having been blown off the downspouts by wind. With these new extenders, they fit very securely to the downspouts (in fact, I was concerned they might not fit initially - but with a bit of squeezing to match the exact shape, they slid snugly on). I then used the included screws to easily lock them into place The length is sufficient for routing the water in the direction you want it to go, and multiple extenders can be connected together for a longer run (of course, you'll need to maintain enough of an angle for the water to continue flowing smoothly). While I don't have competitor extenders to really compare these to, they met any expectations I had and are performing very well. The installation was as quick & easy as you would expect, and the self drilling screws made securing them very simple.

I really needed to replace my other downspout extenders since they were old and the plastic kept breaking. These are perfect, similar construction and flexibility, but longer than the others that I had so I can divert the water further from the foundation of the house. They have two different square ends, so if you need the smaller fitting you can screw that one onto the pipe. The others that I had were green color, but our house trim is actually the same brown color as these, so they match perfectly. These are an easy way to extend the downspout and direct the water away from the house, or wrap around a corner or a stairway (yeah, we have a downspout that dumps onto the porch step), so I've actually got these in three different places and they work great. I do suggest that you take them off every once in a while and empty out the debris, as fine particles will settle into the accordion folds, but otherwise, they really work great!

The runoff from my gutters caused erosion in a part of my yard, so I'm using this to redirect the water. It'll work as a temporary solution, but isn't great. The description says you can connect the two flexible pieces together to create a longer run. This is technically true, but the pieces don't connect well. While the end pieces (round to square conversion) are rigid, the flexible pieces are too soft so they flex/warp instead of screwing together. For shorter runs where you only need one piece, this would work better. The plastic is pretty flexible so you may still need a bracket to support it and keep it from shifting; the diameter is 4", so the bracket will be large too. Finally, I wish a black color option would've been available.
