Nordic Ware Fancy Marianne Pan

I just love cake moulds. There is something about them that brings back memories of my grandmother's cakes and tarts. You know, the sort of cakes they made long ago during the Victorian era. Anyone can bake a cake from scratch with a little baking skill. But a moulded pound cake looks so professional. This particular cake mould is perfect for toping with glazed fruit or just your favourite jam. Nordic Ware is the leading manufacturer of these cake moulds and has produced a variety of them in dazzling shapes and designs. I think that the best compliment that I have ever received was from a friend, who upon first seeing my finished cake on the table, remarked: "Will you look at this?! This is unbelievable. Did you really make this cake?" The price is high, but well worth it, because the end result will be your crowning moment. Although cake moulds do not always work for every type of cake batter, this one is particularly suited to poundcake. Clean up is "a piece of cake," if you will pardon my pun here, because the interior of the mould is non-stick. I prefer to spay a vegetable coating however. Be the first to amaze everyone at a church potluck supper or cake sale. I bet your cake will sell or be gobbled up faster than someone else's ordinary cake.

Lovely cake pan and easy to use. It wasn't the easiest pan to grease and flour due to the nonstick coating that repelled the oil into blobs but I used a brush to smear the oil/flour mixture into the small craters and then added another light coat of flour. The Fresh Orange Cake recipe included with my pan had an error...MISSING THE MILK. So for anyone who wants to make the orange cake, be sure to add 1 Cup of Milk. I found the correct recipe online thank goodness. The cake recipe is a good one but I added a bit more orange zest to mine.Serving the cake requires a large cake platter. Note the diameter and have an appropriate size available.

I used a simple butter cake recipe with this and it was just lovely. Beautiful relief on the design. I greased and floured it thoroughly (I just do NOT trust non-stick coatings) and it released very easily. Held my breath until that satisfying "plop" but it performed beautifully.Very heavyweight pan, too, which no doubt contributed to the fantastic browning of the surface of the cake. I simply dusted the top with a bit of powdered sugar and served it with fresh berries and cream.Again...lovely!

No exception for Nordic ware here, this is a very well made cake pan. High grade materials that will last a long time as with all Nordic ware bake ware. Does not stick, doesn't dent, cakes pop out perfect every time. Its a bit more of an investment price wise but it will be one of the few that you will hand down to your kids.

I had seen something similar to this that a friend had used to make a wonderful coffeecake. She had dressed up the top of the cake with fresh strawberries and other items. I looked all over and this pan was the closest I could come to what she had used.Frankly I was initially disillusioned by all of the items in the recess on the top. However after using the pan I was extremely pleased with the result. I was still able to dress up the top of the cake as my friend had done and designs from the pan did not interfere but rather added to the attractiveness of the cake.

Very good, i use it a lot.Recommended for medium to large cakes compares to The others models available which give us smaller cakes.

Makes baked items come out great.
