Buy it before you have to replace your transfer case too. I learned
Initially it didn't work but after my system reset I have 4wd back finally. OEM quality. Easier than just replacing the ring. Fit right onto my np246 2005. Was hesitant but it shifts just as strong as OEM.

Fits, works, does not come with instructions
My transfercase would shift into 4hi but only make a clunking noise as it attempted to shift into 4lo. Replaced the shift motor with this one and so far so good. It will now shift into 4lo. It doesn't come with any instructions so be aware that you need to shift the transfercase into neutral(if possible) before removing the old actuator because that is the position it comes in. I'm not sure what the two bolts it ships with goes to because it is held on by three bolts that are a larger diameter and longer length.

So far, so good.
I just installed this yesterday (11/10/23) and so far it is perfect. My previous unit had become temperature dependent (I have no idea how) and would only work on warm days; an obvious problem with winter approaching. I then bought a part from a source i will not mention, and it would not shift into 4 Hi. Okay, I could use Auto 4WD, but why would I use a part that is just "mostly good"? So I returned it and bought this one. I will try to post in >6 months as to how it holds up.
