Balancing Act
Having read various reviews of various different items of this type, I was slightly worried about the blade's tooth (the pointy bit at the end of the blade) catching on the fixings - luckily, this was not the case here. The blade is operated by a pulley string pull which is really quite smooth working and the blade feels accurate and well-aligned.One of the biggest issues of this type of item is that when fully extended, it becomes tricky to hold the pole with one hand and pull the string with the other. Once, the pole nearly did come crashing down! Another problem is that the whole front contraption end gets tangled in the twigs and braches so it's hard to maneuver the blade into position; this problem is made worse if the saw is attached! However, in its defence, these two problems pertain to this type of instrument regardless of the brand. The pole is in three adjustable sections - you simply twist anti clockwise to loosen, extend/contract, and the twist clockwise to tighten. You will need strong wrists & arms if you want to use the pole fully extended. The whole thing appears to be well made. I'd have given it five stars if it wasn't so front-heavy which made it difficult to balance when fully extended.

Pretty good piece of equipment, with a small bit missing...
Light, cheap and effective. When using the lopper, make sure to remove the sawblade and associated wingnut as suggested by someone else. If you concentrate on cutting on the pull rather than the push, you can go through a 10cm thick branch without too much difficulty, although your arms get tired fast. When using the saw, I was initially a bit disappointed by how shaky it all seemed until I realised that the bolt which is supposed to run through the metal head and the middle of the pole was missing, and the head was creeping off the top of the pole. I loosened the two pinch bolts on the side, resettled the head ino the right place, put an old bolt through the middle, tightened it all up and went back to massacring the neighbours leylandii - much better. Also the example I received was very dusty and gritty on the inside of the telescoping sections, meaning it tended to stick a bit. Although I think I got a bit of a sub-standard one I don't mind giving it four stars because it's very cheap for what it is, and it got the job done effectively enough.BE AWARE: When using any of these devices, bits you cut tend to come sliding down the pole straight at you. If you are cutting a branch thick enough to need the saw, it is most likely going to be heavy, and sometimes they drop cut end first straight down. The aforementioned 10cm branch left a very impressive dent in the ground, I'm glad it missed me.

Great value
Worked really well for a one off pruning of a medium sized chestnut tree, still in good condition. Cuts into pretty thick branches.

Decent quality
I was worried this might not be very good quality after reading some reviews. I’m happy to say mine works very well, it seems robust and I’ve already pruned a few trees and tall shrubs

Buy A Kent And Stowe Instead
I bought this a few years ago and always found it very average - a bit shorter than I would like and the 3 part handle can slip open too easily when trying to cut - made it all hard work.I just bought a new Kent And Stowe (also through Amazon) which costs only a little more at the time of writing (£47 versus £40) - much higher quality, longer and able to cut thicker branches than the Draper.Note that I only use the pruner - not the saw attachments. I feel the saws are dangerous and hard to use on both - so I have a separate Silverline extending saw - which is much more solid to use although it is shorter.

Just the job but check fitting first!!!
A good price for a good product. Minimal assembly, you just attach cutting blade with supplied spring washer and wing nut. Good cutting blades which made the job easy however check the rest of the the fittings first as the whole cutting head came off whilst it was extended nearly landing on me! No spring washers at all on rest of fittings but i have put some on now and made sure everything is properly tightened! It's a shame as it would have been a 5 star review otherwise.

Gute Qualität zum fairen Preis. Funktioniert gut.
