No more lumpy soup! :-)
I was looking for a hand blender since realising that I was eating a lot of lumpy home-made soup; it was still delicious but needed a smoother consistency.I looked at some of the cheaper products but was attracted by the Breville because of its separate chopping attachment and blending bowl and also because Amazon's price was so much cheaper than list (£17 vs £30), and only a few £ more than the bargain units.Having made a couple of batches of soup I can say that I'm delighted, there are a few outstanding design features:- The blender attachment is stainless steel, so no worries about dipping it in hot liquids, and also easy to clean.- The blender can be detached easily from the motor unit, making cleaning much simpler.- The blade-end of the blender unit is quite "deep", which I think means that the blending action is very fast. I turned about 750ml of lumpy leek-and-potato into creamy perfection in about 15 seconds.- The turbo action is great, its so fast that it actually seems to suck the blender onto the bottom of the pan/bowl.I'm not sure how good the chopping unit is - haven't used that yet but my guess is it will only deal with small jobs.Summary - great product, great price and I'm delighted!

Broke with Eight Months
Bought this in January as liked the ease of use and size of chopper cup. My previous one was too small. Noticed fairly quickly that it wasn’t as good on smaller items due to the blade sitting higher up (ie chopping up a single chilli), but overall have been pleased with it. That is until this week when it broke, just making a whining noise and not turning or chopping. It is not even quite eight months old, I expect more longevity out of an item than that. I can’t seem to get spares so will have to go in bin. Will not be buying the same make again. I then spoke to my friend which is where I first saw it and hers has died as well.

it looks terrific; the pink colour and the retro design
WOW!!!!! Breville blender is really lovely and the price is just a bargain, it looks terrific; the pink colour and the retro design, I m very happy with this purchase.I m the kind of person really big on style and appearance, but also quality, i hate dull, ordinary ugly looking things, to a point that somettime i wish grey, black and white colours would be banned in UK lol I always struggle to find gadgets, sets, cookware of various colours and designs and when somebody create somehting gracious but also efficient, and do so keeping in mind a certain demographic (those not living as millionaire lol ) wanting to enjoy beautiful things, to a reasonable price, I really appreciate it and I sure go for it. So thank you very much Breville. Good job!!!

From outside it looks nice and blends stuff good but your wrist and fingers ...
was really excited to get tis item but unfortunately the problems started with first use.The 'ON' and 'TURBO' button is impossible to use.You need to press it unbelievably hard to the point your finger hurts and and your fingernail turns white. It should make your life easier but instead turns making smoothie a hell. From outside it looks nice and blends stuff good but your wrist and fingers hurt and makes the entire experience a nightmare, therefore I will not be keeping it and search elsewhere for a better model and brand possibly.

Works fine for soup, everything else is too much for the motor...
I used it for a few weeks and it worked fine, making peanut butter, blending soups etc is no problem.Crushing ice does not work that well, it cracked the plastic of the cup and the ice just turned mushy rather then crushed. The motor smells burned fairly quickly when using and I had to stop and let it cool down in between all the time, which was quite annoying. Grinding harder nuts (almonds) was also impossible, and my blender gave up completely after just a few weeks ...Very dissappointed!

Handy to have around!
Great for whizzing up small quantities - soup, smoothies, hummus etc etc

I have to make it cool to proceed further
Initially, I thought it is a product problem, now it is good when I keep items soft instead of frozen.
