Works great
This shear works pretty well. It does cut 16 gauge sheet steel. Very clean cuts with little distortion. Thin material cuts easily, while 16 gauge requires some effort and won't allow tight curves. Seems well built and is a good value for the price. A lot better and faster than snips.

It will, in fact, shear 16ga steel. It was not easy but it did cut and end result was acceptable.
This thing will save my hands from endless wear and joint problems now that I can just shear thin metal with a ratcheting action instead of scissor style metal shears. Harbor Freight type quality: it works and it's cheap.

A solid addition to my shop...
What it's not: If you need to cut heavy steel, you might be disappointed here, that is, I'm cutting 16 gauge sheet steel easily, or, 'reliably' might be a better word. I've not attempted to find it's absolute thickness-cutting limits, but 16 ga. is a pretty standard thickness and somewhere quite near its limits. -Not for dependable straight cuts. If you need perfectly straight cuts, as a rule, this might be a disappointment. You CAN get them done, but it requires some layout and focus on your part. IT DOES: Cut curves and miscellaneous shapes quite well. I've been doing leaves and flowers, bells and such a lot lately and I find this shear to be just the thing. I can say that I love it as an addition to my metal and smithing shop. The video shows it's facility in use and my concept for installation, which allows for optimal flexibility in my shop.

Does what it says
This little shear is an excellent choice for the light duty/home fabricator, especially if you don’t have the big $$ for a more professional model. Needs to be bolted to a STURDY workbench, with plenty of room around it (depending on the workpiece). I cut 16ga pretty easy & precise. Recommended

Jams
Jams half the time and sheet metal gets stuck in there . You waste hours trying to get it out

For the most this is an excellent piece of kit, much faster that tin snips and you don't get tired on long cuts. The only slight negative is that due to the way it cuts it puts a slight curl on the edge of the cut but it is easy to flatten it back down with a hammer. If it starts to miss behave and won't cut properly the bottom roller most likely needs repositioning which you do by releasing the grub screw and moving the bottom roller closer to the top one. Overall I'm really pleased with this purchase.

For the money this thing works awesome. It great for cutting out small patches for rust repair. It’s quick and cuts 18ga steel no problem at all. Time will tell how long it will last but I’m pleased so far.
