3 of 4 no obvious issues, yet
Received this trowel set recently. Haven’t had a chance to really put them through the ringer, so reviewing on what I can see.First off, they look pretty sturdy, and with some small force, I confirmed they don’t bend and the welds don’t break.Regarding the welds, the 3 larger trowels seem fine, but the smallest was apparently manually touched up and gives me some concern. It’s just a less ‘clean’ weld, so we’ll see how it goes under use. As it’s the smallest? It’s also likely to be subject to the least weight, so there’s that. The handles are comfortable, and the little thumb indent on the top is a nice touch. Sure, it might be just a manufacturing mark and not intentional. Can’t really say for certain, but I’ll use it. The finger notches on the bottom of the handles aid in giving a steady purchase on the trowel, and should help even if wet or wearing gloves. The handles have what to me (not being a trowel expert, mind you) is a strange gap between handle and grip. Every trowel has it, so I assume it’s on purpose, but it seems odd. There’s about a ¼” space between grip and steel which at first glance seems to be to allow some flex under tension, but I couldn’t bend the trowel any as the steel is just too sturdy. If the steel doesn’t bend, I’m unclear on why the handles weren’t formed all the way up right onto and around the steel ‘peg’ that goes into the grip. That seems curious. It doesn’t appear to impact function, so it’s just odd.Overall, the trowels look sturdy. I couldn’t flex them any when I gave the welds a quick check but they haven’t yet been exposed to any extreme loads, so we’ll have to see how they hold up.I’m happy with the various sizes as I wasn’t certain exactly what size I might need for various DIY efforts and repairs around the house, and this set looks to be exactly what I needed.
