I used to wake up abruptly every morning to the shrill alarm from my mobile phone, every alarm on there was loud and abrupt and this has been the case with other mobile phones too. I was looking at alarm clocks generally and then started reading reviews about wake up light alarms and how they actually prepare your body to wake up naturally through gradual low level light that simulates a sunrise. I was reading good reviews about these products and as someone who has blackout curtains I thought this could be something that would work for me. I found this particular alarm as it kept coming up in other peoples reviews. Although a bit pricey it’s not as pricey as some and you get some extra features with this too including FM radio which works well, a midnight light so you can tap it a couple of times if you need to get up in the night and you get a subtle light to help you see where you’re going instead of a bright dazzling one. You also get the choice of 7 natural sounds to add to your alarm which play at the point the alarm reaches its maximum brightness and then you can choose to tap and snooze the alarm and the sound switches off leaving the light on and then replays after 9 minutes. Some people may think 9 minutes is too long, you can’t change this either, but if you are someone who likes to snooze then just factor that in to the time you select when you actually set your alarm. You can have 2 alarms so maybe one for weekdays and one for weekends, or if you’re like me then during the week I need to be up at different times on particular days so it’s handy to have 2 alarms. I had read that some people had found this alarm difficult to set up, however once I’d got the hang of it it was fairly simple and the instructions are clear. There is also a test feature so once you have set it up you can test it to see how bright the alarm will be at full light and how loud the sound will be and then adjust as you need. Personally I set mine up at night so that in a dark room I could see how bright the alarm would get and also set the display light so it wasn’t too bright overnight, the display dims when it’s dark and brightens when it’s light. If you don’t like any light whatsoever you can turn the display off altogether and then just tap the alarm to see the time etc. You can even set a sunset duration so it will act as a lamp while you read etc and gradually dim over the duration you set and then turn off, this is a really nice way to prepare to sleep too and if you want you can add relaxing sounds to that or the radio but you don’t have to. Most importantly morning wake ups are now so much nicer! I don’t feel like I’m being dragged from sleep, my mood is nice and calm and I’m ready for the day. Love this alarm and will never go back to my shrill mobile phone. Would definitely recommend.

I bought this to combat the difficulty of waking up in the dark winter months here and it has so far been great. It's super easy to set up and I like that it has two different alarms so you don't have to constantly change the alarm time (but if you do want to, it's really quick and easy to change and takes 20 seconds...) The snooze function is great as it leaves the light on but kills the noise! I like the sleep function as well - the wave sounds are really soothing as I'm trying to get to sleep...and the gradual decrease in light is great too. I find that I feel more ready to get out of bed when I wake up and it really does give off a lot of light at full intensity. I use it as a nightlight sometimes as well, or as an extra lamp in my room when I'm getting ready in the morning. The only issue I have is not at all with the product but with my own stupidity...as I didn't think about the fact that my puppy would wake up with the light earlier and then try to wake me up too, so at first she kept waking me before the alarm! Something to think about if you have a pet who sleeps in your room!!

I had wanted this type of light for a long time but struggled to justify the price. I was also undecided between which light to buy; I chose this one as reviews suggest it is easier to program than its competitors. In my opinion, the light is very easy to set up. The manual is clear to follow and I set it up as intended on my first attempt. (I often get frustrated by unclear manuals!) I would not say I struggle a lot to fall asleep or wake up, but I struggle to fully relax before bed and wake up feeling refreshed. Both the sunset and sunrise option work very well for me. For the sunset option, I use the 30-minute duration and ocean sound, and go to sleep feeling very relaxed with less tension in my body. For the sunrise option, I use the 30-minute duration and FM radio. I did intend to use a sound option rather than the radio but unless you are going to turn the alarm off as soon as it starts, the repetitive loop gets tedious very quickly. (Maybe that’s the point to make you get up?!) There are lots of reviews that mention the sound quality. I agree that it is not the best and I would expect more for the price. The quality is fine for the purpose of an alarm but probably not to use as a radio function in its own right. In summary: expect sound akin to playing music from your phone rather than through an Echo. Either way, this light and any sound option is miles ahead of waking up to the startling sound of an alarm clock in the dark! I’m so glad I have invested in this ready for the change of seasons. The sound is the only reason I give this 4 rather than 5.

Seems to work for me. Which means the price is more than justified, The light itself doesn't wake me up, the alarm does. However, I wake feeling MUCH better than i do from my phone alarm. Whether the light affects you will vary greatly by individual - I don't wake particularly easily. No idea why people are saying its hard to use, or complaining about the buttons. It is very intuitive. The buttons around the sides feel good, and you get used to the positioning. The touch sensitive menu buttons are great, very responsive. Overall it feels good quality, and looks very sleek. Recent models feature a 'midnight light' when you tap the top. It turns on a dim red glow. Very handy. I find it much harder to fall asleep again when its shining at me in the morning (turn brightness to full) - which is a big bonus. Especially in winter when its dark. The sounds aren't all that crisp - they sound like actual recordings that haven't been touched up in a fancy studio. But its an alarm, its never going to sound good when its waking you up at some early hour. Good product.

First of all, I was sceptical this would actually work, but it really does, the light is great for waking up to and so much better than an alarm. No rubbish alarm noises needed the light wakes you up nicely and you feel a lot more refreshed. This product is super easy to set up too. HOWEVER - the radio is absolutely terrible I can’t seem to tune any station in without static noise taking over. For the money DAB would have been a heck of a lot better. Also, and the most annoying part, the whole thing roles over at the slightest nudge and is extremely unstable to the point now where I am going to try putting sticky pads on the bottom of this product to stick to my table. If that doesn’t work the whole thing will be returned as it is not fit for purpos, but I’m clinging onto hope because the light does wake you up nicely. When you go to press on or off the side alarm buttons which are incredibly small and fiddly the whole thing goes rolling over because you spend a good 5 minutes trying to reach to where they are and trying to press them in. I find most of the time I have to go jolting out of bed to save the thing falling off the table! Ridiculous design!

I have just purchased this wake up light having had a cheaper make several years ago (that just stopped working after a year or so). I can't believe how much better quality this is: the build, the sound, the brightness. I agree that the buttons aren't the easiest to find in the dark and a previous buyers idea to put stick-on little nobs to help identify them is inspired. The USB charger at the back is also considerably slower than normal chargers, but a nice touch none the less. The red night light is really handy. Generally I am so pleased I spent a little more and bought this clock & especially that I bought a discounted pre-used one. It was £40 cheaper and just had to give the front a wipe, it was slightly sticky and the packing was in German. Otherwise works good as new. Very happy customer.

The product works very well however, no issues at all. Nice design and cool features. However I haven’t used it much since it takes a long time to switch on and off (which defeats the purpose of it if you don’t). I regret buying it personally as it costs quite a lot but I recommend it if you need a circadian alarm clock.

Nowhere in the description does it say that this alarm cannot be set to repeat automatically. There is no daily mode or calendar. If you turn it off in the morning, it stays off until you manually reactivate it every single night.
