Makes GoPro MTB POV watcheable, but needs a lot of improvements for GoPro Hero6
I'm using this with the Stuntman chestie and GoPro6 for mountain bike and BMX POV video. The Stuntman chestie is critical. The stock chestie is awful and can't support the weight of the rig.I had given up on the GoPro for MTB video; watching it made me want to vomit. This gimbal changes that. But boy, it's a chore to use in many ways. The bad:1) The "interface", which is just two tiny buttons and an LED, is awful. The instructions aren't too helpful. It took me a good 20 minutes to figure out that I should just hold the power button on for like 5 seconds, let the gimbal start up, and then just force it with my hands to the position I want. It'll stay there. I'm using it "upside down" and it kept spazzing and flipping around when I followed the included instructions. Also to add to the fun, when the battery gets low, I think the light blinks or something, but if you're in the middle of ripping a ski run or downhill trail, there's not a chance you'll notice. All of a sudden, you'll feel the GoPro smacking the frame and realize the batteries are kaput.2) Supposedly you can connect it to a GoPro, but not the GoPro6. The cables don't fit and the port door is obstructed anyway.3) Anything other than small hits on a MTB cause the gimbal to jerk.4) GoPro6 audio is useless with this gimbal. The mics pick up the gimbal motor noises through the metal frame, and there are other weird effects like an echo or a robotic sounding drone. You can use ProTune to record raw WAV files from each of the 3 mics (and see if any of the audio is useful), but then you need a faster SD card to keep up with the data rate. I use an external audio recorder, but then you must sync audio in post.5) The thumb screws that hold in the GoPro are awful. They're small and take many turns to tighten, and they come loose. For skiing, my hands usually get quite cold and I can't even work them. If the bolt screws come loose, and they do, the gimbal starts to jitter as the GoPro moves around slightly in the frame.

This gimbal works very well and gives good stability. There is a lot of motor noise when filming with GoPro Hero 5. I am sure it is more of an issue with the GoPro than the gimbal. Also when you mount the GoPro the side button is covered up so you have to pull it out to use the button. This would have received 5 stars if the app could control the camera. I used the app to move the gimbal when it was on my car and then had to go to the GoPro app to see if it was where I wanted. So I had to go back and forth between the apps to get decent footage. That’s only a problem when it is out of reach.

Drastically Improve your Videos
I love this gimbal. My GoPro videos are much more watchable now. I wear it on a chesty while mountain biking. I ride flat bumpy terrain and watching the video normally makes you nauseous. I just made a time lapse of a 40 mile ride with 3500 pics and it came out great. The gimbal seems to be very well made and has survived two crashes. My only concerns are that it’s a little obtrusive when worn on a chesty with an extended mount and am worried I’ll eventually lose the screw for the battery case. It would be nice if it was captive like the camera bracket. As far as intrusiveness goes, I plan to switch from the chesty to the motocross plate like they show in their video.
