They are hollow but fine for my purpose. Latch moves okay but tight not a smooth swing in moving. I found them a little tricky to line up correctly so that the latch would fit into the 'keeper' nicely. I found that if I lined the two pieces up with the latch in place & marked the holes that worked pretty well. But for me, it was very important that the last screw to be put in was the one above the actual 'latch' - I lined it up so the latch would move nicely into and out of the 'keeper' ...then I drilled the hole & attached this last screw. They look very nice on finished product. I used them on Fairy Doors. Color very pretty gold.

They are pretty decent hooks, odes the job. Thin flimsy metal, so you wouldn't want them for much more then ornament. But pretty.
