OsmoCreative Kit for iPad (Newer Version Available - Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Like most reviews say this is just a white board and markers and you could use any. The plus side of this white board is that the Osmo base fits nicely at the top. However also because of this nice fact, my kids want to use the board to play all osmo games. The white background is nicer than a wooden tabletop. This has resulted in a scratched up board which I don’t care for. Then the Monster thinks the scratches are part of your drawing and pulls up some weird things. I try to get my kids to use the other side for other games but it looks more like a table top. They prefer the white background. Would be nice if both sides were white. One side for drawing and one more scratch resistant side for the other games.The Monster game itself is a super cute concept. You draw things the monster requests and he pulls them onto the screen. Fun and novel concept that my kids really enjoy. I thought this was a decent deal with the base, board and markers. I probably wouldn’t just buy the board and markers alone. I do like the crazy blue fuzzy zip pouch for the markers. Seems to help it not get lost and doubles as an eraser.

***UPDATE****AMAZON WAS NOT HELPFUL IN THE END W/MY ISSUE BUT OSMO WAS GREAT. THEY ENDED UP MAKING THINGS RIGHT AND GETTING AMAZON TO CHANGE THEIR DISHONEST POLICY. THANK YOU OSMO!I purchased 3 of these as gifts along with 3 games and can't get any of the 3 to function properly w/the app. Since they are clearly defective I tried to return them only to find out after purchasing that everything Osmo related is FINAL SALE and Amazon doesnt care one bit if items are defective. Yet nowhere before purchasing did it indicate that Osmo items (games and systems) were not returnable. This is not even legal... I never would have purchased anything as a gift that I couldnt return should something be wrong with it but I was scammed into doing it because Amazon and/or Osmo was dishonest about the items being final sale. Do yourself a favor and if you really want an Osmo system buy it from somewhere other than Amazon so if there is an issue with it you arent out several 100's of dollars like I am...

UPDATE: Had to buy a new iPad to use this product (see below). After having used it, its fairly well done. The initial app you download is sort of a jumping off point so you know what other apps to download given what hardware you currently own. That app is not very well done, it has way too much fluff for an app that only tells you other apps exist. That app should be much more dry and quick to navigate because you won't spend much time there. Anyway, after finally getting accounts created, and proper apps downloaded that work with my hardware, it worked great. My son was learning and having a great time while doing so. I added a star and will keep adding them as we explore more of the apps and I get over my very negative initial impression with the product.----- Original Review:I am so frustrated with this product line. I keep buying things for it to not work with my iPad. Firstly I purchased a set that did not include the iPad base. That one was my bad but then I purchased this because it came with the base. It said “iPad Pro” was compatible but apparently there are now 2 different size iPad pros and mine is too big. How hard would it have been to simply make the base an inch wider on each side to fit all of them? It’s just really really frustrating that something that should be easy is not.

My son got this as a Christmas gift. He loves drawing on it and watching his drawings come to life. Two of the markers didn’t work right out of the kit which was disappointing. I emailed the company and they are sending replacement markers! This is our first Osmo kit and so my son has been a bit disappointed that there are only a few activities. I would like to get him more but it seems I have to buy a whole genius kit to get the needed pieces including a base which we already have.

My 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son fight over who gets to play this game first. It keeps them engaged by taking them on story adventures that they must illustrate along the way. I like that it gives them an example on the side to get them started or they can be creative with their own design. I am concerned that they might get bored after they have drawn for every story. It would be great if there were extra stories you could add on. I am happy with this purchase!

Bought this as a present for my 5-year-old for Christmas. He used it every day during the school break and explored all of the different options. The basic drawing program he was able to use with a little assistance from his older cousins for the first few times. After that, he was able to set up the system and proceed by himself. I like that it comes with a bag for the markers and the cleaning cloth, plus a larger bag to hold the smaller bag as well as the base and whiteboard. Unfortunately, that fell apart within the first week. I'm going to see if I can get a replacement otherwise, I'll just use a basic drawstring bag to hold everything together. Definitely his favourite toy this Christmas.

Our little girl loves to draw. She has taken an interest in technology recently and we are trying to avoid her endlessly watching trash on you tube. This was the answer. It’s an interactive Drawing game. They draw characters or artifacts on a whiteboard then they magically appear alongside the animated characters. The characters then interact with the kids drawings and bring them to life. My little girl loves it when she draws a rocket ship and the monster rides it. Honestly, you can hear her laughing from 2 rooms away. She is five and this is a perfect gift. We will be buying more.

This is really well made! Innovative idea and both of my kids enjoyed drawing with it (ages 5 and 7). I’m competing against Roblox, Tik Tok, and You Tube Kids, so even just 15 minutes with this was a huge win for me. I would like to add more of the games, but they are terribly expensive. I would say this was worth retail price if your kids are into drawing and art, if they can sit and color for hours. Otherwise you would have to think of this as a starting set and add other games to keep their interest as they age.

Bought Osmo for my daughter's 9th birthday. She has used it a lot since and particularly enjoys the drawing app. It requires an iPad to use it so I thought it was quite expensive and wasn't sure if it would get much use but it does. It is clever the way it records you drawing and she loves watching it back at high speed. It has increased her confidence and so the amount of time she spends drawing.

My granddaughters brought this with her own money she saved up & she really wanted this as she saw this advertised on t.v, but was disappointed as it didn’t do as much as she saw on t.v, i checked on amazon & you have to buy other add on& they are very expensive for an 8 year old to buy, I personally think it’s far to expensive for what you get for your money plus you have already have to have your own iPad,

We recieved our OSMO order on time however, when we opened the box and attempted to use the board, we found that three of the markers were completely dried out. Tried using water (as suggested by OSMO) however, this had no impact. We purchased new dry erase markers without any issue.Aside from that, this is a great little device! Our kids love it.

My 4 year old really enjoys the interactive stories. Wish there were more stories though. Pretty cool tool though. We have the coding one as well, my son seems to be into it more.

Just ordered for Niece. Decided to test it out before gifting it but the board markers have totally ruined the board! They advertise that you simply wipe away with the blue pencil case but that rubbish. Tried tissue, wet tissue, and on advice of Osmo themselves, window cleaner and hand sanitiser. I know amazon would probably replace it, but no doubt it will happen again and even worse when my 5 year old niece is the one using it. I mean 5 mins of an adult gently using the pen and wiping in between and that’s the result, I dread to imagine what it will look like once a child uses it. That one aspect makes it very disappointing
