Dell 318-0909 Switch by Design Studio lid for 15-Inch Inspiron R Series Laptop (Peacock Blue)

My wife wouldn't settle on any other lid. She loved it.It is expensive, as the $49 is about 8% of the price of a new inspiron notebook.Mine was a bit difficult to install. Removing and reinstalling the original lid was a breeze, but this one, for some reason, wouldn't readily snap into place. I removed it several times and reinstalled the original lid just to check I was not doing anything wrong. In the end I forced it a little bit and it clicked, hopefully in the right place.The packaging is very good, it comes inside a clamshell which you could reuse to store and protect your original lid.The art is nice, my wife loved it. I would stick with the original lid.

This Lid is high quality. I would have given it a 5 star had it fit without me having to magyver the lid. (I had to add some double sided tape in between the lid and the laptop)I made sure that this lid was compatible with my Dell and wanted something to give it a personal look. I don't plan on taking off the lid unless it got scratched so it is ok. I was looking for a cobalt blue lid but this is as close as Dell will compromise with me.

I ordered this and got it within two days and it was gorgeous and I would have loved to have put it on my lap top... if I had the right kind. Be careful when you order because there are two types of 15R laptops, one that has a special button for switching the lids easily and one that doesn't. I have the one that doesn't allow you to switch the lid so make sure you check your lap top has the button on the back that allows you to. Other than that, the purple horizontal lid I ordered was gorgeous and I loved it, I just couldn't use it unfortunately.[...]

I wanted to write a review to let everyone else out there know that apparently dell has changed the size and shape of the lid on the new inspiron laptops. I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 inch laptop computer. On the website the only options that dell offered were 3 solid colors. I didn't like those boring choices when they had all these fun patterns out here. I bought this one. Just recieved it, I love the way it looks, it's totally me. Opened it and it is larger than the opening for the switch lid and will not fit in the space whatsoever. It appears that they have changed this years models and the older lids will not fit. I think people should be aware of this so that they don't make the same mistake. I think it's really crappy that there is no indication anyplace that the old lids will not work for the new computer of the same make and size. Misleading.I guess I am going to have to list it here and see if someone with an older model laptop will buy it from me now. This sucks majorly.

I could not be happier with this product. I ordered this for my wife's Dell computer which as "Switch Cover Compatible" and she was so happy with it and me! It was shipped in a commercial protective packaging so it was in pristine condition. The installation of the cover was sooooo simple with the handy instructions in the package. If anyone is riding the fence about getting one of these and worried about difficulties with putting it on the computer or with buying from this seller please rest assured you will have a POSITIVE experience =^)

The covers being sold on Amazon do not fit 2012 model Dell Inspiron 15R laptops! Do not buy these covers for a 2012 Dell Inspiron 15R unless Amazon updates their inventory and then specifies in the online listings which year/model cover that you are buying!I've now purchased two of these flimsy, cheap, plastic covers (ridiculously 80+ bucks for two after taxes and shipping) and neither of them fit the 2012 Dell Inspiron 15R that I just bought and the online sellers everywhere appear to be completely oblivious to the fact that the 2011 lids they are selling will not work--and cannot be made to work, with any 2012 Dell Inspiron 15R laptop.I'm very angry about this because I bought two of these covers for my 10 year old daughter's upcoming birthday and now will not be able to give them to her along with her new laptop. What makes matters worse is that even the Dell website fails to address the fact that the SWITCH lids ARE NOT COMPATIBLE between the same model name laptops for 2011 and 2012.

I love this product so much! my computer now is bright and colorful. I was unsure about how bright it would be and liking the color when I first ordered it but after receiving it and putting it on my laptop I'm so glad with my choice

I am typing this from my blue Inspiron N5110. This is a great product and don't listen to all the 1 star reviews that say it does not fit their laptop. It is not the fault of the seller and the lid I received was in excellent condition with the factory package on it. Definitely buy if you have the Inspiron N5110 then this is a great purchase
