Great Movie
Mel Gibson (not my favourite actor) was surprisingly good in this film, the children were terrific and that "Phoenix" lad (whom l can never pronounce his name) was excellent. Really worth watching.

Classic quirky alien nonsense…
Cool

Atmospheric and twisty-turny
This is one of my favourite films, one of M. Night Shymalan's finest. The way the plot builds toward its ending, and the characterisation is so clever. It's more than just an alien movie, but if you like alien stories, this is still for you.

Average ET wannabe with no special effects and a tiny cast.
The second I saw Mel Gibson presented as a faithless priest it was obvious this movie was going to be about challenging and rediscovering faith, a nice idea but not one that I thought was well positioned to work with the theme of possible 'Aliens' in spaceships making crop circles (as the Bluray front cover depicts). Still I ignored these fleeting moments of doubt and continued watching in earnest and indeed quite enjoyed the first sections of the film that gradually increased the suspense of the viewer building up to the big moment of 'contact'.As time passed we saw through various means that we're not alone in this world and and.... and then what? And then nothing really. Nothing much happens. The bad guys leave earth because they are scared off by the same method used to save the world seen before in 'Gremlins' (1984). How original. So destruction and chaos never happens. Not that it needed to. It's just the idea that Aliens land on earth and bring the earth to it's knees by rattling door handles and are then defeated by H2O is somewhat silly ,to me anyway.Signs consists primarily of:1)Cute little adorable girl - copying the character Gertie from ET (1982).2)Smart little boy with interest for science and the unknown - also copying the character Elliott from ET.3)Family with an issue - presumably needed for the plot to make them look unconventional. Now mix this all in with with lowest grade special effects possible and a disappointing ending with no twist, and you get the sum and total of this film. It could have been so much better, but it fell off the rails half way through. For adults well versed in sci-fi or supernatural thrillers this is a decidedly average film. For 12+ maybe something different to ET, but not half so good.I'd give this movie six out of ten (tops)or four if I was sticking to usual Hollywood abilities. You could argue this isn't Hollywood's job, yet Hollywood can produce great entertainment, especially with sci-fi yet Signs had few flourishes. OK, one scene - but one scene sci fi movies aren't sci-fi movies. So we'll conclude this wasn't a sci-fi movie, despite the concept it was meant to be about Aliens. Hmm....Stick to the excellent 'The Sixth Sense' (1999) if you want a genuine quality supernatural film. In my opinion, the director maybe blew the budget on Mel Gibson's fee and spent the rest on renting a farmer's maize field because when the film is over, this is the feeling you're left with. Being short changed. You don't expect the plot and special effects of B-Movie from the 1980s' in a sci-fi film made in 2002 from a director like M. Night Shyamalan, but this is what you get.

Gulity pleasure
Dumb movie with really stupid plot holes and nonsense but it's enjoyable. The thing that I enjoy the most is the slow build up and not relying on monsters running up in ur face every 2 seconds like other movies. It's good that you dont see an alien properly until near the end of the movie, makes it more scary imagining it. Such a shame that the payoff was so terrible, just a crappy ending and could have been more. Worth a watch at least, it's not horrible.

good film, nice delivery
i really enjoyed watching this film, its now become one of my favourite films. Shyamalan really knows how to create suspence, you wont be disapointed the films shows some brilliant shots and has a soundtrack tailored to fit the film. this film is now one of my favourite titles, although im not really fond of the scenes when the kid has his first attack in the basement i felt it was alittle corny some of the script and i think they should have told us some more about the water weakness but otherwise a brilliant film.the soundtrack that james newton howard created is brilliant as always, it gives me the sense of wonder and the unknown which matches the films content. i enjoy watching the sequences with the aliens, because the director does not show the aliens often which is a brilliant idea which also can be seen in "Alien". great acting performances from the main characters, the movie gave me a few laughs which was suprising given the look and the ideas i had about the film.the delivery was good, even though this might not happen to you but i recieved this 3 days before the bracket of expected arrival started, so im happy i didnt have to wait long. i hope i was informativei didnt give this full starts because nothings perfect, even if i cant see anything wrong with it, it does not mean it isnt missing something. stuff can always be improved
