Amazing Re-Creation of the Classic D-50!
Great overall product, good build quality, amazing sound clarity and tonal quality. Perfect re-creation of all the classic Roland D-50 sounds plus a whole slew of new ones as well as all the add-on cards (most impossible to find) that were available to the D-50 in the late 80's early 90's, all inside this beautifully crafted miniature version - plus backwards compatibility with all the original D-50 sounds including any patches made or bought previous to the inception of this powerful Synth. Does come with batteries and they seem to last pretty long. Does not come with a USB cable but they are cheap, instructions for what kind of cable to buy are in the instruction sheet that comes with the unit.

It's like Access Virus
This synth is pure magic! It's like Access Virus, but back in the day! It is velocity sensitive unlike other synths in the Boutique collection, and the sounds are just layers of sparkles and deep bass! ... Take this synth to star gazing or night fishing - it WILL blow your mind!

The best of the Boutiques
If you are a Roland Cloud Subscriber, don’t bother picking this up. If you are not, then this is a great synth to pick up in lieu of a massive D-550 or D-50. The Sequencer is annoying and I hoped that it would be addressed by a global switch, but no such luck as of yet. Sound wise, it’s spot on to the D-50 and includes all the “cards” from the original release.

Great full set of sounds from the original D50 (all ...
Great full set of sounds from the original D50 (all the sound banks/cards).. but why o why did they have to replicate the original user interface.. the minimum they could have done is allow browsing sounds by categories/marking favorite sounds.. don't expect to do any serious patch editing on this thing without getting serious RSI.Roland boutique are great, but also I'm no fan of the pitch bend/mod strips or the 3.5mm audio connectors (vs proper balanced outs).Update: Nov,2020 - I can't believe this is listed at 899$ now.. I got mine for 415$ and thought that was a bit much for a piece of nostalgia mainly.. for 899 you can get much more versatile and practical to use hardware synths (with a user interface that won't drive you nuts).. or you could get the original synth + something else for much less. If you absolutely need the entire D50 preset catalogue.. then this is still a good option if money is no object. For 800 bucks I'd recommend ASM Hydrasynth (Desktop) or Modal Argon8 or Korg Wavestate.

Awesome!
Very impressed. It definitely sounds dated for most patches, but isn't that why you'd buy a remake of a vintage synth? I love that I can throw it on my desk and plug it in my keyboard, then pack it into a small drawer when im done. Usually with synths you have to deal with how to store them. This Boutique model in particular is about as easy to use as the original, because the D-50 was already a pain and this doesn't suffer from the tiny knob problem the others in the series do.

Great fun in a small package
Sounds amazing. Fun to use. Easy to program if you get an editor but not so easy via the interface which was expected knowing what I do about its father, the D-50.
