Lower your expectations
I was waiting for this product with a great deal of anticipation, I'd bought a VGA cable for my Xbox 360 to free up the component HD input, bitten my lip a couple of times as the release date slipped, but then it finally arrived. But , no doubt, you've already realised that those high expectations where serverely dashed once I'd got the PS2 HDTV player working. I guess I'd been so taken by the Xbox 360's crystal images that I'd expected more of the same but that wasn't to be.Getting the player to work is simple enough, reset your PS2 input to component, put the disc in the tray, select the resolution you want, adjust the screen position, put the game disc in and press start. The game worked perfectly fine but here are the problems.I have a 32" JVC LCD TV, which doesn't allow me to adjust the aspect ratio from the component input. Changing the resolution with the Xploder software changes the size of the output picture, so, with my TV at least, there are very ugly and very large black borders on all four sides of the picture. There was nothing I could do to make the higher res image (I used 576p) fill the entire screen. There is no doubt that the picture is crisper and cleaner, but this made for some very unattractive jagged edges. When you're buying a product that does nothing more than manipulate the screen image, the 2 issues I've mentioned are rather significant. The first issue may not apply to your TV, so take that into consideration before buying. I would suggest waiting for a VGA cable version, as that should fill the screen. In conclusion I gave it 3 stars as it does do what the manufacturers say, but if I'd had the chance to see it working on my own TV set before buying it I simply wouldn't have bought it. Think about it, if this was so great, why has it taken so far into the PS2's lifespan to hit the market ???

Avoid
As other reviews have attested this product does not work properly. The disc worked once and then refused to load again. A waste of money.

Rip off
The product worked great.... once. Ever since then my PS2 (slimline) won't read the disc. It just asks to insert Playstation format or Playstation 2 format disc. All my games work fine and cd's play ok so I Know its not my lens. As stated before the cable is ok and is the only advantage to this software. Avoid at all costs....

Don't be fooled
The people who got this item to work are very, very lucky.I bought one, even though only a handful of people seem to say it works...Out of a sea of people who say it doesn't.My PS2 doesn't even read the disc. I have to put in a certain other disc, swap to the HDTV Player Disc and then load it from there. Still doesn't work. It makes NO difference at all.If you have the same problem I did with my PS2 and HDTV: AV and Scart were blurred through the Tv and you have no RGB sockets. You want to make sure there's a VGA (PC plug socket) on the back of your Tv. You want to be sure to get a VGA to AV or RGB (If you have RGB cables, go for this!) adaptor. You plug in your VGA to AV/RGB, plug in the right cables from your PS2 to the adaptor, find the right channel (For me it's YPbPr and away you go!This product is flawed and I have to say it's cheap, tacky and useless. What's the point if most consoles can't even read the disc? My PS2 is getting old, sure but I NEVER get any disc read trouble with it. So that leads me to believe this item is just a general dud.Don't be fooled. I'd say shell out a bit extra and by the right adaptor and cables to get your PS2 up and running. I spent so much money trying these fake "We'll make it work!" products. Don't believe them!

Utter waste of money - except for the cable itself
If you have a component cable already save yourself the money and don't even think about buying this. The software doesn't actually scale things properly like you'd expect (as for instance the 360 scales effortlessly) and the disc itself is really poor quality for some reason. My first disc never booted and the replacement disc I got managed to boot once. After that it never loaded up again and support refused to reply to my continued requests. It should be noted that my PS2 has no issues loading any other cds or dvds.

Wouldnt even load...
My son: "The idea itself is good...if it worked. The disc refuses to load, the ps2 then tells me to insert a playstation format disc. And from what Ive heard the improvement of games isn't that great either... I emailed the support team and I have never gotten a reply. Utter rubbish."
