Q: I understand this item is ok for bathrooms as long as it comes under section two which means one and a half meter's away from the bath zone.

This is not suitable for a room containing a bath or shower unless it is 3m away (please refer to BS7671 to check distance as I am answering this in bed and don't have my regs book to hand) most domestic bathrooms are normally to small for this. I suggest the MK 701WHI which has the safety isolating transformer in it and is ok. Hope this helps Andrew

This will work in a bathroom, but it's illegal under the wiring regulations because it does not include an isolating transformer. Not only is this illegal in bathrooms, but it would also be potentially dangerous.

This shaver socket does not make any AC hum at all. This is because there is no isolation transformer - but the current is limited. This socket should not be used in damp locations. This socket is not for use in a bathroom. I would suggest RCD protection on the circuit. Hope this helps. Best regards, David
