An absolutely outstanding lens
I've owned the Sigma 20mm F1.4 Art for just over a year now, and it's by far my favourite lens to shoot with. I primarily bought it for astrophotography, but have also found myself using it for architecture and landscape photography (see the attached photos). If you're a budding astrophotographer however, this lens is a must-have. I currently use it on my Canon 6D.Build quality:As expected for a lens of this price, the build quality is excellent. The materials feel premium and overall it is well-designed. It might be a bit heavy compared to similar lenses, but what you have to remember is that this lens is filled with quality glass. Sadly it's not weather sealed, which may put a few people off buying it, but this has never really bothered me as I never intended to use it in the rain. My only gripe is that the aspherical element can't be protected with a filter. However, the fixed lens hood does provide good protection from the odd knock or bash.Performance:Again, you get what you pay for. The performance of the Sigma 20mm F1.4 Art is superb. With a maximum aperture of F1.4 the lens really shines in low-light situations, especially if you're shooting astrophotography. Shooting at F1.4 also gives you some really nice bokeh too, especially when close to your subjects. Autofocus is fast and quiet, and the focus ring is also smooth and quiet. I've seen a few reviews regarding back and front focusing, or missing focus altogether, but in my experience I've never had this problem. Just remember that if you are shooting at F1.4 you are dealing with such a shallow depth of field that the slightest movement will shift the focus.Image quality:The image quality on the Sigma 20mm F1.4 Art lens is outstanding. Just like the other Art lenses, the images are sharp and crisp. I found that stopping down to F2.8 is the sweet spot for this lens. Shooting at the widest aperture also produces sharp images too, but pushing the lens to this limit does incur a tiny bit of softness. However, this is not really noticeable unless you really zoom into the image. Likewise, shooting at the smallest aperture does incur a bit of softness due to diffraction. Vignetting is also apparent at the widest apertures, but this is easily corrected in Adobe Lightroom. I've not really experienced much chromatic aberration with this lens, but it does happen once in a while depending on what I'm shooting. Again, easily corrected in Adobe Lightroom. There is also a tiny bit of lens distortion, but nothing too detrimental.Overall the Sigma 20mm F1.4 Art is an absolutely outstanding lens. As previously mentioned, it's currently my favourite lens to shoot with. I've never been too keen on ultra-wide lenses given the fisheye effect, so the 20mm focal length is ideal for me. Apart from a few minor gripes, the lens is near perfect, and is a must-have for astrophotography. I would highly recommend buying the accidental damage protection given the exposed aspherical element. Better to be safe than sorry! However, if you look after it well, you'll have no problems. After a year of use, there are no marks or scratches on the element or lens itself. The Sigma 20mm F1.4 Art lens will remain my favourite lens until I find something better, which might take a long time!Pros:- Excellent build quality- Superb performance- Outstanding image quality- Fixed lens hood for protection- A must-have for astrophotographyCons:- Heavy when compared to similar lenses- No weather sealing- No option to add a filter to protect the front element

Top quality wide angle.
I have owned many lenses over the years and eventually most have become Carl Zeiss just because of my frustration with the lesser resolution of other makes. Wide angles have a particular attraction, they provide the scope for dramatic scenes unlike any other lens. I was unsure about Sigma and to be honest I was unsure if 20mm would be just too wide for general use. I have to say however that the pictures from a 20mm focal length are amazing. Returning from London I had pictures that were just incredible. Wide angle interiors and sweeping views. There are limitations however. The 1.4 focal length enables hand held photography in all light levels but the plane of focus is limited as you would expect. This is fine, just understand you need to stop down and use a tripod for front to back sharpness at night but this lens will clearly deliver in any situation if managed properly.

Another great lens from Sigma
I have spent weeks looking at the pros and cons of different wide angle lenses. I have been using a Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 for astrophotography, due to only being a f4 max aperture I was having to up my ISO, which then increased noise. I decided to go for this Sigma 20mm f1.4 lens. I did find I needed to move the aperture from f1.4 to around f2.8 to reduce the vignetting on the corners. But I will be trying again at f1.4 taking overlapping images cropping the vignetting off and stitching together for my panorama images. The lens feels very well built. The lens hood cannot be removed and you cannot fit a filter over the front element for protection.I cannot wait to get out again to capture more with this lens.

Best cheap wide angle lens for canon EF
Literally the best lense I own currently, be aware it’s incredibly heavy, but honestly once it’s on a sturdy tripod it literally outshines all my lenses with it’s amazing low light and shallow depth of field

Sigma 20mm lens - Fantastic lens at a low price
Cracking lens. I bought this for my Nikon D750 and have not been disappointed. I'm only a hobby photographer and haven't been doing it long. There is little distortion even on subjects quite close up. Fantastic for night shots and the wide aperture means you can take photos with a very shallow depth of field. Build quality is outstanding on a lens that is probably a third of the price of similar lenses in the class.

Superb lens.
Only had the chance to use this a bit for now but super happy with the quality of the lens, both look and feel and the picture quality are fantastic. The wide angle on this makes you look for new perspectives and adds more creativity in your pictures.

Sharp and Wide
this lens is sharp ! a little distortion towards the edges on full frame, but it is 20mm ! Chromatic Aberration is under control. I use it on my Canon 6D and Sony A7R2 (with MC11 adapter) and it is Sharp ! I think I have said that twice now :-)

Great lens, recommended for D800
Recently tested the lens on my Nikon D800, and I have to admit that the results are just fantastic. Even at aperture 1.4, heavy vignetting aside, the results are just lovely. Don't regret having spent the money on this lens, would do again!
