Looks like I was the unlucky one and the seller tried to pull a fast one with me.I decided to ignore the only real negative review for this item and go with the positives as you do.When my calipers arrived I opened the box and straight away I could see that the plastic bag containing the calipers that is inside the hard plastic case had been opened as it had the staple removed. The bag was also in pretty rough shape, and as well as that I could see that the calipers while still inside the bag were powered on!When I removed the calipers it was obvious that they were not brand new and used as they had scuffs, nics and scratches all over the place, they were also covered in finger prints from whoever had had them previously. I have tried to show this as best as I can in the photos.The calipers were showing a reading when closed and that was even after I zero'd them, so there seemed to be a problem with the calibration. As well as that the scroll wheel was very loose, it felt like it could have come off at any time if I had tried to use it!I have now returned it to Amazon, but the interesting thing is that I went back to look at the only negative review for this item and the chap had returned it as it was mis-aligned and had a loose scroll wheel, which pretty much describes the one that I was sent!Coincidence? ...it's a real shame but I doubt it.UPDATESince I left my review the seller has been in touch and kindly offered to send me a new caliper free of charge by way of apology for the error of the used/faulty item that was previously sent. I have to say that this was very generous and also very much appreciated. I certainly wasn't expecting it and couldn't ask for much more.The new calipers are working perfectly and have a very solid feel to them. I've used them a few times already and they have been very consistent so far, so I have no complaints.I have now changed my review from 1 star to 4 stars to reflect the admirable way the seller has dealt with this.

I would say this caliper is supremely accurate. I unpacked the caliper from the box and was immediately impressed with the quality and finish. It's heavy enough and sturdy,I reset the gauge to zero with the caliper closed and set about measuring my feeler gauges to check the accuracy. I have feeler gauges which are metric and imperial and tried the using the metric/imperial switchover on the display. All tests revealed an accuracy of less than 1000th inch which for my money is as good as it gets.Very impressed for the price.

I bought this to calibrate a 3D printer, the price attracted me - and I was not disappointed, the quality is high for the price and I can print properly now, bonus is I can measure filament for faults too!

These digital calipers are simple to use and accurate. It comes with a plastic box to keep it safe from damage. It also comes with a spare battery enclosed in the box.The calipers has a large LCD screen, which is easy to read. Below the screen are three buttons. Power button for on/off, Zero to reset the number to zero on the screen - perfect to measure the difference between to lengths or thicknesses, and a button to change between inches and millimeters.Overall, these are easy to use and perfect for bespoke items.

Loved the calliper easy to use and it came with an extra battery so its a plus, my only problem is the box it came in is really cheap plastic, when it arrived it was all broken and didnt even fitted the calliper anymore threw it away as soon as i saw it.

Having used a traditional vernier for many years I decided to give this a go.Now it's my go-to, feel kinda bad for my old vernier :)Surprised at the accuracy - how on earth do they get this magic right?

A slight tap on the box jiggles this inside and turns this on. As a result, the battery is dead every time you want to use it. Meter itself is average, but becomes useless when theres never any power.
