Ultimate Ears MEGABOOM (2015) Portable Waterproof & Shockproof Bluetooth Speaker - Panther (Limited Edition)

This is now my 4th Megaboom in 4 years. I've only had one that I had issues with it not charging after having it for a while and when I contacted UE they replaced it for me. My other 3 where grey and blue and I picked up this one cause I needed one in my garage and it matched my dewalt tools! So far so good... sounds just as great as my others and it just as rugged. I decided to go with the first gen, cause honestly I didn't hear great things about the second gen, except the charging location is easier to get to. Other then that, I personally think the first gen is better. For anyone looking to travel with these, I can tell you they are the best. That was the specific reason I bought my first two was for traveling and they are just small enough to slip into my Tumi Water Bottle holders and I've had them everywhere from the beach to Pools, etc.... Never an issue and the sounds quality is so good. I'd highly recommend this speaker if you are looking for something that is water proof and durable. And I wouldn't stay away cause of the negative reviews about it not charging after a year of use. As I said, I only have that happen to one of them and they replaced it with zero issues. Its totally worth it.

I really like the way it covers in a 310 degree arc. The bass is great and the mids as well but the high end is ok (squishy is the best way I can describe it). I love the megaboom app - it just works. I use an android phone. I have gotten a less than what it is Batt % - this has happened once so far, (really it was 95% charged but it reported 30% within a 10 minute window of listening). I knew it was a false reported level. I kept listening for 2 hours or more and turned it off. The next time I turned it on it reported the correct level of battery. I have listened for probably a total of 15 hours and it is still going on it's first charge. Over all, I am thrilled with this!

Once I received this item I was supper excited about it since I have friends that have them. Charged it for the recommended time and used it while working outside. Battery died after about 8 hours of use which I didn't mind. I was when I went to use it the next weekend it would only work when plugged in, which defeats the purpose of a wireless speaker. Contacted UE customer support and they had me do a factory reset still same problem. Contacted seller told them all the issues that I had and UE customer service walk me through steps to resolve the issue. The seller immediately emailed return label and apologize for the inconvenience. Once shipped I was only out two days of the product. I'm very happy with this product performs exponentially and recommend this product to anyone.

I’ve had this speaker for 6 months now, and I’ve loved it since day 1. Sound is far better than anything I’ve had, and the battery life is fantastic. Perfect to bring on trips! Decided to write this review specifically because of the events that unfoleded in my day. This speaker is indestructible. Not only did it fall from the top of a 15 foot deck onto a driveway, but it was also unknowingly backed over by a Ram SuperDuty. Sound was unaffected at all, the only damage is slightly cosmetic as the top plastic cover popped off and bent the charging port slightly. But it was nothing that 5 seconds of effort couldn’t fix. Extremely, extremely, extremely pleased with this speaker. God bless UE

Anyone buying portable speakers won't expect as high quality sound as wired, but this is about as good as you're going to get. VERY acceptable sound quality. I bought 2 of them, however, specifically because this is one of the few portables that has optional stereo capability. And the 2 of them do work in stereo mode... as long as you remember a very complicated way to turn them on. (There is supposed to be a way to "lock double up" stereo mode to automatically turn on each time you turn the speakers back on, but the entire "double up" feature of the app seems to be quite broken... Unable to open that feature at all when tapping that icon.) So each time that you turn them on, here is what you have to do...Turn on 1st speaker, and ensure that it is connected in iPhone or iPod bluetooth.Turn on 2nd speaker.On 1st speaker, press both Bluetooth button and (large) Plus button simultaneously.On 2nd speaker, press Bluetooth button twice.At least it HAS stereo capability... but I'm going to guess that most users won't be able to remember such a convoluted way of enabling it.

This is my THIRD UE speaker!! I brought the first one to my daughter’s new house so we could listen to music as we unpacked. Needless to say, she fell in love with it and it suddenly became a housewarming gift. The second one I brought along for a extended weekend visit to my son’s house. I forgot it when I left. He continued to use it and ‘needless to say, fell in love with it’ and now it’s his. This third purchased one is mine! Thankfully I have only two children!!

I bought this after agonizing over the best choice after days, maybe weeks of reading reviews and comparisons. But let's cut to the chase. I wanted it for playing music at a somewhat load volume while I'm in the pool. I used it a couple of times outside the pool area and thought it was incredible. They're not kidding about the bass.Then I took it to the pool and floated around on a raft listing to this incredible speaker. The it happened. A short song with some pretty hefty bass finally made this speaker distort. I thought, well, anything will distort on THAT song. But it didn't stop distorting. The next song had a run of the mill base line and the distortion continued. It continued to distort on the next song.I decided that I don't have the time or inclination to experiment further with this. I can't have a speaker that does that, even if it doesn't do it all the time. I put it back in the box and sent it back. I'm saving for a Bose.
