Great for those last minute planners
Lonely Planet guides seem great for people like me who don't do any planning prior to visiting a city. They really make it easy to open the book on the flight and have a decent itinerary by the time you land.Coverage of the city seems very up to date and gave me a good idea of what I could see in the time I had. Maps to the touristy areas outside the city, as well as detailed maps of areas inside it, also came in handy. If you're unfamiliar with the Lonely Planet guides they break the city down into neighbourhoods. This is particularly handy if you're just wandering the streets and want to know what stuff you can do / see in in the area.I'd maybe look for the pocket version if there is one, just because this is a full sized paperback that's a little awkward to stick in a pocket
