Great system for kids of all ages
I ordered my RG35XX over a week ago and received it last week. I had been watching videos and reading reviews and felt like it would be perfect for me. I grew up on NES, Game Boy, and SNES, and really only needed something that could do those consoles, but liked to have flexibility to go up to other systems like Dreamcast and Playstation. Initial reviews of the RG35XX were mixed; the stock firmware was choppy and had several QoL features missing (suspend/resume and a robust configuration option). I ordered when I saw that a new firmware, GarlicOS, was released and was having lots of positive reviews. I played the RG35XX for a couple of hours on stock firmware but decided I would really just want to get GarlicOS running.I'm glad I did! Garlic works great on the system and it's really easy to navigate and use. The form factor of the device is just perfect for me. I got the one stylized like the original Game Boy and it feels really great, very close to the original. It's smaller in the hands with a bigger screen, but it's not TOO small like the Miyoo Mini (in my opinion) nor too bulky. It's portable enough to take with you in a case, throw it in a bag, etc., and the battery life is decent. Because it has trigger buttons, it can play the newer generation games, but I've been having too much fun playing NES and Game Boy games to need them. But they are very comfortable to use.I strongly recommend this to anyone looking to see what all the fuss is about for retro handhelds. This has an easy entry into the market, isn't terribly expensive, but has good build quality and style, and enough performance to play anything a child of the 80s and 90s would want.

Read the Manual! Get the most out of this thing.
Right out of the box, it's a great little console. Loaded with games from many different consoles. Battery life is ok, not great, but not horrible. There are some things to know, however, that may add or take away from your experience.1. This only plays up to *some* PS1/PSX games. The controls are D-Pad + Buttons. So don't expect to play any games that use joysticks (yet they include arcade systems, idk)2. Some games are not in English. Main examples are the Final Fantasy's for SNES. This is disappointing. Most are not this way. ChronoTrigger is English. (but even though it's in the SNES files I think it's the DS version.)3. Battery life. It's ok, but drains quickly if you leave it in sleep. There is a difference in tapping the power button and holding it down to shut the system off.4. Operating System. When you first turn it on you get a basic old school rom system layout. It operates as normal/expected. I happened to look at the instructions before I threw them away, and noticed you can switch to another OS, Garlic. It's a little more graphically pleasing, and seems to have more customizations. I'm still playing around with it. IMPORTANT - If/when you switch OSs, your favorites and save states do not carry over.

Works great, but requires a little additional love
If you plan to use the system as it comes it's fine. Though the SD it comes with is known tk be faulty, so best get a better quality one. This is where you have to do some work and put a little more money into the product.

Great System!!!
When it arrived, I followed a tutorial on how to install Garlic Os onto brand new micro SD cards. The stock card that the RG35XX comes with is prone to failure, so I highly suggest getting new cards to put your OS and games on. The console itself is very sturdy and well built for what it is. Perfect for emulating old handheld consoles and old home consoles.

Lasted 1 Month Update A+ Customer service
The media could not be loaded. Update: Seller quickly responded with a replacement device which is working flawlessly A+ Customer serviceLoved this amazing Nostalgia machine! Played everything up to Sega CD/32x excellent. One month in the unit became warm while playing future cop LAPD on PS1. Now all 3d games are visually glitched and unplayable. When it worked it was almost perfect for my on the go retro gaming needs. Ps1 is where you will find the systems limitations.

Has a console-breaking bug
I'm not sure what to make of this handheld. For the most part, it does a great job at playing games without lag. However, there are times when it gets a little buggy. Sometimes it gets stuck on the loading screen, and there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it except to plug it in and try powering on while it's plugged in. When this happens, I find that I can't turn off the system. It gets stuck in a reset cycle instead. That said, this has only happened once or twice since I bought it. This seems to happen more often when I actually shut down the system instead of just holding the power button to turn it off, so maybe that's the issue. Because of this, I'm rating it a three-star for now. I'll revisit when I've spent some more time with it. If this fix resolves the issue, I'll definitely raise the rating.UPDATEI've spent some more time with this item and unfortunately the reset cycle issue continues. It doesn't happen often, but now the plug-in fix doesn't work. The only way to break the cycle is to reset over and over until it randomly starts working again. It's a shame because the system works great when it works, but this issue is kind of a deal breaker. Down to one star it goes...
