The only true flavoring that really matters if you're cooking Cuban food
If you're ready to have some mouth-watering slow roasted Mojo basted Cuban pork that is tender and super-flavorful, then this review might interest you.I was born and raised in Miami, Florida so I grew up eating Cuban food: platanos maduros, Moros (black beans and rice), Cuban sandwiches, Ropa Vieja, you name it.These foods were a staple for me - but due to economic reasons - mostly because South Florida is a very expensive place to live, I had to leave after living there for over 40 years and move to Southern Missouri where land and homes are much cheaper. This area has good barbecue, steaks, chicken and meats in general, but Cuban food is almost unheard of around here - sure there are a few Mexican restaurants here, but they just aren't the same thing!!So, the other day, I saw a slow cooker recipe for Cuban Mojo Pork - and just the thought of enjoying that Mojo (sour orange, garlic, cilantro, oregano) flavor again after almost a two year absence really excited me. I don't consider myself a great cook or anything, I'm pretty basic in terms of cooking skills, but I thought I would give it a go.After reading about Mojo sauce - I learned the "key" ingredient is "Sour Orange" juice - it just gives it a tangy, citrusy flavor that is unique and truly cannot be replaced by just using regular orange juice mixed with lime juice - which some claim is "close enough". I think this is just not true.Of course, this product is "very regional" and could not be found anywhere I looked in Missouri grocery stores, so I had no choice but to order online. So, I ordered the genuine article "Sour Orange Juice made by Badia" - which is a Miami brand - and am right now cooking the Mojo Pork in my slow cooker. So far I tasted the Mojo sauce, and it was the bomb - so I think I made a good choice. For this reason, I am giving this juice product 4 stars.

Needed for Puerto Rican Roast Pork
I'm sure this was the ingredient that made the Pernil so very special.

A mix of orange and grapefruit
Honestly, I have not used this product yet. I was hoping for the juice of actual sour oranges, as in Seville oranges or wild sour orange. The ingredient list says it is a mixture of orange (not sure what variety)and grapefruit juice. A strange surprise. It probably is good for marinades and certain cuisines...just not what I was looking for.

This is necessary in making a Cuban inspired mojo.
The only way I can get this now is order online the one store that carried it stopped. The recipe is 1 part sour orange, 1 part olive oil, 1 part lime juice, generous dollop of garlic, cumin and salt and pepper. I marinate chicken or pork.

Essential for Mexican Marinades
This is Not regular orange juice. Is a different (sour) kind of orange and is used in a number of Mexican dishes (I guess other countries as well).I used it to make Cochinita Pibil and it was one of the essential ingredients

Just a mix of Orange and Grapefruit
Disappointed I didn't see the photo and ingredients were not listed on Amazon.de I wanted the real sour orange juice not some mix that's easy to make better from scratch at home. This is not the real Bitter orange, Seville orange, sour orange, bigarade orange, or marmalade orange is the citrus tree Citrus × aurantium and its fruit. It is native to Southeast Asia and has been spread by humans to many parts of the world.[3] It is probably a cross between the pomelo, Citrus maxima, and the mandarin orange, Citrus reticulata.
