Perixx PERIBOARD-416 Wired Mini USB Keyboard with 4 Hubs - Scissor Keys - Big Print Keys - Detachable USB-A Cable - UK English

This keyboard is very light and has the same dimensions and almost the same key layout as the UK keyboard on my laptop (minus the numeric pad). Some of the keys on my laptop keyboard are failing to respond reliably so I bought this as an alternative.Initially, this USB keyboard wasn't recognised until I'd already logged in with the laptop keyboard. It was due to a BIOS setting for quick startup which ignored external devices. I disabled that setting and can now login and also enter the BIOS before that using the USB keyboard. It was good to discover that issue before the original keyboard fails completely.I find that the white letters on black keys are easy to read and I don't need the backlighting when there is good daylight or artificial light. The backlighting defaults to the brightest of 4 levels each time the computer is booted or the keyboard is plugged in. The backlighting level can be reduced or turned off by holding the Fn key down and pressing the F2 key the requisite number of times.It's advertised as being quiet but it's just averagely loud.The other function keys have a secondary function (e.g. Print Screen, Volume +-) as expected. As an alternative to pressing the Fn key each time to access the secondary function, there is a function lock enabled by Fn + F1.I've mainly used the keyboard with Linux Mint on my laptop. It also works fine with a Raspberry Pi 4 running RPi OS, apart from Print Screen and other secondary functions but that's a software issue rather than a keyboard issue.It's a nice design and if it lasts as expected will be good value for money.

Just received the wired and wireless version of the 616There were a few things that were not clear to me from the description. Anyway, after an hour this is what I can say about the one I have received in April 2024.1 Thankfully it does have a standard double height ENTER key not the wide single height one in some of the illustrations and indeed on the box mine came in. Perhaps this key was on an older version?2 The backlight (via FN+F8) toggles =OFF- LOW- HIGH. Goes off after 1 minute and comes back on when you press any key. It returns to whatever setting it was on. If you lock Fn with Fn +F7 then just need to press F8 to change backlight.3 The key symbols are backlight white with key surrounds a bluey colour. Some white LED bleed around keys if you are at an angle to them which is a shame but that is my only con so far. Key symbols are easyto see in quite low light even without the backlight.4 Keys are not silent but not noisy IMO.5 I have found you can increase the keyboard angle a tad by adjusting the feet to 90degrees to the base. Not sure if this is an intentional feature but it works and helps reduce the light bleed problem a bit.6 Had it connected to my PC both wireless and wired in no time at all.Overall feels great, very nice keypress. Quite heavy for such a small thing. Keyboard does not feel cramped despite size.

The size and simplicity make this good value and it is pleasant to use, but as reported by other reviewers these are not very reliable. The central row of keys started failing intermittently and now it is unusable. I followed Amazon's instructions to report this to the supplier and am very pleased that perixx has offered to send me a replacement, which I shall be very pleased to receive.

Arrived 2 days earlier than expected. Good quality product. It won't take you long to get used to the smaller size keyboard, if you use the number keys a lot on a regular size keyboard. You will get into the new button routine in a day or 2. I don't have small hands, so the button sizes are perfect. Typing is more accurate and don't have to keep back spacing to correct spelling, like with some keyboards. Nicely backlit. Compact. Works with you very well, if you are a fast typer. Feels solid when typing. It looks great on the desk for remote working and is perfect if you travel, or have to pack it in a laptop bag. Ideal if your desk space is limited. Just plug the USB into the laptop and start typing. The backlights will switch off themselves after a short time, haven't timed that yet, but just press any key and the laptop or desktop wakes right up. It's stylish and the letters and numbers are bright and very clear to read. Buy one, you will love it. Of course all these things are subjective, however I would recommend it. German made, so you know it will be good quality and it certainly is. Also it stays in position, doesn't slide along the desk if you type fast.

This is a really good keyboard for the price. Switches are soft, not loud and the activation is good. The keyboard itself is solid and with a good weight. The spacing on the keys are great so touch typing is easy. It's backlit, rechargeable and has a space for the USB dongle built in. Overall very happy with this product and if you're looking for a compact, wireless keyboard that doesnt break the bank and is rechargeable (most wireless keyboards of this price point requires batteries) then I fully recommend this keyboard.

It is refreshing to find a decently sized keyboard in these days of jumbo sized everything with stupid flashing lights. This has neither. Great floor the sensible and or space, portability conscious user.

Highly precisely keyboard, do the job & worth for the price.

I really like this keyboard. The keys are nice and low, it’s the perfect size whilst also having arrow keys, and the backlight is a nice feature.I have had this keyboard for just over a year now and always had the extension plugged into the back of my computer on the floor, and had it resting on the desk so the signal reaches the keyboard. Recently my set up has changed and I now plug the usb into my monitor. I took off the extension because the keyboard is close to the monitor at all times and I wanted a tidier desk. Unfortunately the signal is no good even with this small distance, the keyboard lags or simply does not work, so I have the use the extension lead which kind of bugs me.Other than that, it’s a great keyboard.
