Fun project. Mine doesn't play smoothly, I probably made the gears too tight. Still looks good on a shelf. Pay close attention to the metal rods, I used the wrong length during one step and was pretty far along before I realized the mistake. The instructions do a good job of giving tips on some of the trickier parts. Be delicate with the double-sided tape, try not to touch and get it stuck to your finger, it'll just curl up into a mess. I really enjoyed the quality and how the tools are included, just a nice self-contained project.

The media could not be loaded. As this was a first time building something like this, it took me about 10 hours. Instructions are fairly straightforward but you must follow closely or you’ll have issues in later steps. I also think I tightened a few gears a bit too much since the final operation is slightly “clunky”. I was careful to wax the gears when the instructions called for it. I was impressed with the durability of the parts and used a small hand file to removed the “burrs” from each piece after I removed them from the laser cut sheets. All in all I’m really happy with the end results and would encourage anyone to try this for their first kit. Not only was it fun to assemble, it looks great and functions quite nicely!

The media could not be loaded. I LOVE this! It was my first time ever putting together a model anything. I cannot for the life of me put bookshelves or furniture together so I was nervous being that it's rated 4/5 skill level but the instructions were very clear and easy to understand. This definitely took me a lot longer than the 4hrs it suggests but I made sure to take my time.Midway it has you do a test run with the gears and they didn't really rotate on their own so I was worried it wouldn't work in the end but was happy to at least finish putting it together as it's a beautiful decoration. However when it was done, it took a few tries to get it to work on its own (It does say the wax needs to work through the gears) but it works beautifully!I was so proud that I cried a bit as it played through. I love it very much, it looks beautiful on my bookshelf (Sorry I didn't have a picture of that) and I've gotten so many compliments on it.I already bought the Magic Piano to put together next!

Great gift for someone that enjoys crafts, the finished build is pretty solid and the mechanism doesnt have that many quirks however i have noticed at some points it can get stuck on the bow's horizontal movement so watch out for thatwhile it doesnt need glue i recommend adding some to the book pieces as they tend to bend slightly when winding-up the music box

This product was amazing! The pieces are medium, too hard to put together, which I actually enjoyed. It makes you think about the next steps before putting it together and I highly recommend reading ahead before putting a piece together. It came with very detailed instructions/answer key and it didn’t feel like a Lego set. That was the one thing I was really concerned about when I got this product, was that it was going to be a little too easy, but it really does have a challenge aspect to it and makes you think ahead. The only thing that I would say is a con about is that if you make a mistake, it is really difficult/impossible to go back and fix it. I actually have not finished this product and I need to get a new one because I put it in backwards thinking that it was going to be OK but again you really have to look at the instructions very carefully, this product is put together very beautifully, and I can’t wait to actually finish it!

I bought this as a gift for my 16yr old daughter who loves music (especially string instruments) and putting together advanced lego sets. She loved this! The finished product looks great and detailed, and it doesn't look like flimsy junk. From what I observed is that as she was putting it together, there are several tiny pieces and tools, so you need to be patient and careful. I remember looking at the instructions, and at first quick glance, they looked complicated to me.... but she completed it in afew hours without any struggles or complaints. (Not sure if I would have!). The finished product is a great piece, and I didn't realize it was actually a working wind-up music piece as well. However, it is not a toy, and would not recommend this for much younger children.I do plan on buying a few more of these in the future as gifts though.

The media could not be loaded. I would tell someone - go slow (it’s not a race), test every time you put a new gear on. Use more wax then you think you should to keep the gears smooth. Pay attention to the directions ( I had to take the base book apart and turn it around cause I didn’t notice the holes didn’t line up with the very bottom), frustrating. Keep opps gel prescience glue on hand things will break that do not have duplicate pieces for. Excellent gift idea would recommend to anyone. Obviously it took longer for me to assemble because I painted and stained parts as I went. But that is me- you do you make it a memory you cherish each time you see it.
