Does not work as described, emits low air and not cooling

I do not usually write reviews but I need to warn potential buyers because this product is very poor. I bought this for my daughter's bedroom because it faces the sun and has a large glass area and becomes like a greenhouse in the summer. She has to study in there and I thought the cooler would take the edge off the heat. I did not expect it to be anything like an air conditioning unit but after running it for some time there was no difference at all. When you put ice in the back it is fair to say the blower is cooler than a regular fan - but it lasts no more than ten to fifteen minutes and is then back to normal. The only way you would get even a small result from this product would be to keep topping up the ice every 30 minutes or so - and the actual amount of ice it takes is very small. It is impractical to keep doing this - especially through the night.

Great air cooler, especially for the price. You fill the bottom tank up with cold water, then dangle one of the two ice bottles it comes into the water tank from a cord. Also has a little ice box on the top at he back where you can put about 15 ice cubes which slowly melt dripping cold water into the tank, keeping it cool. The fan then spreads the cool air as it evaporates. I must say, definitely better than the tower fan I had before. The fan in this is more powerful and the evaporating cool air does work. Especially if you just chuck loads of ice into the water tank directly.Only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the timer only goes to 60 minutes. Would be much better if it had a 2-3 hour one so when you go to sleep it switches off once you've fallen asleep.Note: do not empty the ice bottles it comes with like I did when I got it as it contains some coolant chemical which actually helps the bottle stay frozen for longer!

After reading the mixed reviews I was sceptical about purchasing this. It uses a 60w TEC plate and is slightly cooler than a fan even when not using water. The evaporation of the water does help but on an especially hot day like today I’ve added 2KG of ice and it’s cooling a medium size room substantially. It’s no air conditioning unit but it’s better than a fan! It is fairly loud hence the 4 star review. I’ll see how it goes and update this if there is any issues
