Costume size depends on your child's height and weight, not age. I would say a 7/8 would fit a 6 - 7 year old.

My daughter was 5 at Halloween and I bought her the size 4-6x (she normally wears a 5). It fit perfectly. If you're daughter fits in size 4T clothes I would get the 3T-4T size. If she's in slightly larger than 4T then go with the 4-6x. I had no problems with this costume and it looked adorable!
