Pump is not as pictured (That is the Liberty 457)
The Liberty 453 1/2 HP is not as pictured. As another reviewer stated, it does have a wide angle float attached that is adjustable. It does need the water to raise the float up high for the pump to activate. I did not realize this when I was putting this pump and the 237, with vertical float switch, into my sump pit. I intended on the 453 to be the main and the 237 to be backup since it is a 1/3 HP. The vertical switch on the 237 kicks that pump on before the float on the 453 is high enough. Not that big of a deal for me since the 237 does the job, but just something to be aware of if you're setting up one pump higher than the other. Also, the 453 has a series plug, so the pump has an electrical cord and the float switch has another and they plug into each other, then into one outlet. Other than that, I've had the pumps installed for a couple months and have worked well. We had two strings of heavy rains for days and no issues with the pumps getting the water out of the pit. So far I"m happy with my purchase.
