Best Swiss Army Knife
Everyone should carry a Swiss Army Knife, and if you have to choose just one, this is it.PROs:=====- insanely sharp locking serrated main blade- built-in pliers have helped me in so many situations I can not count them anymore- good balance between size and function- rugged and sturdy- very strongCONs=====- can not sharpen serrated main blade- does not have a saw- Phillips screwdriver not very usefulI carry a Swiss Army Knife (SAK) everywhere I go. Anyone who carries one knows why.Over the years, I have tried many different brands and styles, but I have settled on this one as my all-time favorite SAK model. The main blade is so freaking sharp that you must use extra caution with it. A simple slip will cut you right to the bone with minimal effort. Be very careful with this blade. The main blade is so sharp that it locks open to prevent fold-over injuries. This is the only SAK model that has the serrated main blade together with the other assortment of tools. Some knives try too hard, and end up becoming unwieldy. They are too large and awkward to use on a daily basis. This knife strikes the perfect balance between form factor and usefulness. It fits nicely in my pocket on my detachable key chain, yet has all the tools I need for day-to-day requirements. To my surprise, I have found myself using the pliers in all sorts of circumstances, from fixing a pair of skates to removing large splinters to tightening bolts. I have winced a few times as I wrenched the pliers well beyond what I thought the breaking point must be, but so far the knife has never failed. The quality and durability of this SAK are outstanding.I rarely use the shackle opener (it is useful for loosening impossibly tight knots in ropes), and I would gladly trade it for a saw, but there is no such configuration of a SAK,. In a pinch, I have used other SAKs to cut lumber to size using a saw, and I have cut trees down with a SAK saw. It is the only tool I pine for in this SAK model. My only complaint with the tools in this SAK is the Phillips screwdriver. It is not that useful - it does not firmly grip most Phillip screw heads. I prefer to use the tip of can opener for most Phillips screws - I can usually securely grip one of the two cross grooves. This is the best overall combination of tools in a Swiss Army Knife, yet there is still room for improvement.

Great knife!
I really am pleased with this product! First, this is a big knife. Probably too big for EDC in the pocket. It will carry best in a pouch/sheath. I use a lanyard for mine and carry it in my pocket but will buy a Victorinox holder to wear it on my belt soon. It sits flat in my front pocket and bulges out. To remedy that I just carry it in my back pocket or cargo pocket for now.The texture on the handle is great and it fits my hand (medium sized hands) very well. The blade is very good quality and the serrations are great for cutting line. I really like the bright blue coloring of the handle too. Plus, I like that the blade locks. The other tools are good quality and I can't wait to take this knife with me next time I go boating.I am pleased with the quality and looks of this tool. I could do without the corkscrew but you never know if you may need it so why not? I recommend this knife to anyone who is not afraid to carry a big Swiss Army knife!

Picture is wrong
The knife in the picture is not the actual knife they send. The knife in the picture has many more features. Cork Screw, Phillips, Pliers, Shackle Key This knife has none of those.

The quality disappointed me.
Plus;1. The serrated blade is excellent and extremely sharp. I do like that it locks in place.2. The knife does look good and the material seems solid.Minus:1. The reason I ranked it low is that the spring that reopens the pliers moved sideways from the 1st use and now every time I use it, I need to twist it back in position. By experience from previous swiss knives I know that this thing can break if I force it back in place.2. Using the Phillips screwdriver to screw back a cabinet door that fell off on the boat, I noticed that this thing closes very easily and it did cut my finger.. So usable really only for gentle tasks.

A lot of knife
4/4/2010-This is a lot of knife.By that I mean that it's quite a large pocket knife and that's what it is- a big, heavy pocket knife. That said, I'll qualify my review by saying that I sail boats and quite often. The sailing I do is primarily on cruising and one-design sailboats ranging in size from 33' to 52'. I crew on races and enjoy day sailing and a little bit of distance cruising too.I have been looking for a knife to use exclusively for sailing and this was not my first choice. But this knife has so many features, quality of materials and construction I've realized that it's a good choice for me. This knife will come in handy at all times. I'll use it to undo shackles, untie stubborn knots, cut sandwiches and at the end of the day to uncork a bottle of claret. It's really all here- the screw drivers, can and bottle opener, tooth pick and tweezers. I can even see using it in outdoor situations like camping. In this world of cheaply made Chinese made products (which I avoid) it's nice to find some old world quality at a good value.8/31/2010-Review updateOK, I've been using this knife all summer doing the things that I said it would be used for in the above review.I can honestly say that I have used nearly every feature of the knife while sailing. The shackler comes in handy and so do the pliers when that little shackle buried at the bottom of the forestay is sticky. I have not used the awl yet and can't say that I'm looking forward to having to use it either but that's another story. This is a fairly large chunk of a tool to carry but it's not any bulkier than any other decent and full featured multi-tool. When deployed the main blade is well balanced with the handle making this an excellent tool.
