Whoa! A beast.
When it arrived my first impression was not entirely enthusiastic. This thing didn't look particularly rugged or powerful.I looked it over, went over to a pear tree with too much height and growth to trim it. Jeepers, yah the thing was heavy and I was not used to it, but I quickly found out this thing CUTS! And pear wood is super hard. Forget first impressions, this is no toy.I took some limbs off the pear tree as thick as 8 to 10 inches. You gotta watch these heavy limbs coming down don't klonk you an the head. The saw has a slight hesitation built in to start the cut then accelerates powerfully and digs into the branch throwing plenty of wood chips down as it cuts. Wear safety glasses!I had fifteen 30 to 40 foot cedars forming a privacy shield for my gazebo behind them. Boy, they had grown and gotten out of control over the last 20 years since I last trimmed them. Truthfully, they were a challenge, with 6 of them growing over the telephone and electric lines coming into the house. But a sound plan and cautious cutting allowed me to clean all those branches in the wires. (No, I could not reach the electric wires and had no wish to be electrocuted)I left 5 trees standing and cut the rest with the pole saw and it's sister, the Denali chain saw. Slow, careful work can affect wonderful change. I had to cut small branches at a time as I had fruit trees i did not want to harm.Yes for an old man like me or many women the 8 ft reach is heavy and the 12 foot reach pole included with the saw is a handful. But man, does it do the work! Don't forget to fill the oil reservoir to save the chain and bar. This is a useful, powerful, well designed and built tool. I found it a wonderful upgrade from a corded pole saw I had which was heavier, no more powerful and not nearly as handy. This is no toy! Highly recommended..

Light weight and easy to tighten the chain
As a 64 year old woman I find it easy to handle as it weighs under 5 pounds. Although I had to tighten the chain after a few cuts for about the first 5 cuts and the knob was a bit difficult to turn, i had to use a screwdriver to turn the knob. I haven’t had to tighten the chain in a couple of weeks. I’ve been cutting up dead trees, branches and pallets for firewood. Ive easily used it for a couple of weeks time without problems.

Worked great for a little while, then didn't work at all
The saw cut well for what it is, and met my needs well enough for about 3 months before it stopped working.I had filled the chain oil twice, and there was 1/2 tank of chain oil left when the saw failed. There was only a faint click down inside the saw someplace, the motor doesn't run. Ther brake was off, the chain could be moved freely by hand. Possibly a failed relay or switch? I don't know. The Skil brand had a 5 year warranty. When I called Amazon said there was a 1 year warranty. They opted to refund the purchase price instead of repairing my saw.

Tree Trimmers
Works well for most small brush. If you plan to climb and prune with this saw it cannot slash cut. The motor does not spin the chain fast enough to make a quick cut. And I notice that having only one locking nut for the side plate causes the chain to loosen more often than regular chainsaws. Battery life could be better. You can get about 50-70 cuts with the battery life. Depending on what you’re cutting. Bigger stuff that (8”-10” in diameter) takes a minute will drain it faster than little sticks of brush next to the wood line. But other than that it’s a decent little light saw for simple ground work or simple pruning. And if you own any skillz power tools then those battery packs should be compatible with this saw.

Powerful and Manage-able
LOVE IT! Well balanced, easy to use, battery seems to last forever!! Doesn't leak oil like many do. Works better than my 18" electric for sure. And no cords!!

Defective Out Of The Box - Motor Running Backwards - Leaks Oil
This unit was apparently wired wrong at the factory so the motor runs backwards. It is usable, but the head has to be positioned upside down making the bucking spikes useless. I used it and found the chain oil leaks pretty bad when not in use. The Amazon product description says "This product is covered by the Power Tool 2-Year Battery and 5-Year Tool Warranty". So even though it is past the return date, Amazon Customer Service is authorizing a return under the warranty.

Performs better than expected
Battery life is pretty good. Battery holds charge well when not in use. I use it to trim the trees and chop broken branches, and saw does well on even harder woods like maple and oak. Much lighter than gas powered one and should be good for about 1 hr cutting. Also like chain tensioning setup. Easy and hold well.
