Essential Phone PH-1 Case, TUDIA Lightweight Minimalist [SKN] TPU Bumper Shock Absorption Cover for Essential Phone PH-1 (Glossy Clear)

After having issues with Tudia's TAMM case affecting my wet install screen protector on my PH-1, I decided to wait for the LULA case to ship from PRIME. You can read my issues with the seller, W2 Corporation, in my review on the TAMM case. After waiting for what seemed like weeks, Tudia released this SKN case. I painstakingly scrutinized the photos to make sure the lip over the screen was thin enough not to affect any screen protectors. I don't drop my phones, nor do I ever get them wet; my primary function for a case on my PH-1 is to prevent scratches and dents from everyday use. Even though this case is currently shipping from W2 Corporation, I pulled the trigger. Finally, Tudia has designed a case that meets my needs. The case isn't bulky and provides excellent coverage. Microphone cut outs, ports, speakers, etc. are all cut to precision. Even the sides feel nice in the hand, the ridged diamond bumps provide adequate grip. The volume buttons and power button remain clicky, and the top of the case has enough clearance for the speaker. The clear case is a fingerprint magnet, but I wanted something where I could put vinyls or decals behind the case. It's quite flexible and pliable, but rigid when on the phone, hopefully these properties will translate well in an actual drop scenario. The lip on the case fits perfectly where it doesn't affect my screen protector, something most case manufacturers haven't been able to master. My PH-1 currently has a skin on it, but the case still fits perfectly. I'll update this review after more daily use, but I'm quite satisfied already.

This beats the other case I got for the PH-1  Essential Phone PH-1 Case, Poetic Guardian [Scratch Resistant] [360 Degree Protection] [NOT Compatible with Tempered Glass] Full-Body Case with Built-in-Screen Protector for Essential Phone PH-1 Blue This TUDIA is far lighter, a lot less bulky, and doesn't impede touching the screen's edges or corners like the other one. The buttons are nicely made and responsive, the sides have a nice texture for grip, the LEDs on the phone aren't covered by this case at all. Even the cut-outs are better.Now, whether or not this one is as protective as others is a question. I'm not going to be throwing this at the ground to find out, either. What I can say is that it protects the back (though the PH-1 doesn't necessarily need that with its ceramic design), and the sides (which DO need protection on the PH-1 because the titanium can get scratched). It also protects the screen by providing a small lip around the edge, raising it up so that the screen doesn't touch the surface if you lay the phone on its face. There's not a lot of extra material in the corners, though, so there's likely to be some impact if you drop the phone and it lands on a corner. The description says "bumper shock absorption" but I'm not going to test this claim intentionally. We'll see if I ever have an accident, I suppose.The glossy black really is GLOSSY black, though. It's a fingerprint magnet. I kind of wish I'd gotten the smoke, or that they'd make this in a matte black. Shiny is pretty, but it's also easier to see scratches, dust, fingerprints, and general wear and tear on a glossy surface. Since I made the decision to purchase the model labeled "glossy black" this one falls on me, though, and doesn't affect my review.As TPU cases go, this is a quality choice. I'm happy with it, and my other case is now in a drawer as a back-up.

The case fits well and all of the cutouts align perfectly. I really appreciate the textured grip areas on the side and how Tudia kept their logo small and almost hidden within the grip. The buttons are clicky and feel how you would expect.The TPU plastic is very glossy, almost as glossy as the phone itself, and shows fingerprints. While the TPU is glossy, it does have a descent amount of friction so it won't go sliding off surfaces nearly as bad as the slick Essential phone is wont to do.I would have preferred a matte finish to hide fingerprints and and would like thicker reinforced corners to help protect the phone a little more. Still, this seems to be a great minimalist case for the Essential PH-1.

This case is just what I wanted! It is clear, lightweight, fairly thin, and does protect the phone. On Cyber Monday, we bought one black and one white Essentail PH-1. So, we needed cases. These were available for pre-order, and looked like a good choice. So, we went ahead and ordered one Clear and one Black.The Clear arrived first, so we put it on the black phone, which needed immediate protection. Good thing, because the next morning, the cat jumped on my partner and the phone went flying to the tile floor. Not a scratch on the phone! Thank goodness!The Black cover came in a few days later. Well, I like the clear better! It doesn't show as many fingerprints, and you know when lint gets under it and needs to be cleaned. Plus I can see the nice white back through it.The case makes the phone soooo much easier to hold, and has textured grip sections on the side. The raised lip keeps the screen from touching the table or desk if you place it face down. I don't have any issues touching the edges of the screen accidentally with the lip, yet it hasn't hindered using the edge to scroll or anything, so that is a plus! All the openings are in the right places, and the charging cables have fit without any issue.The hole for the fingerprint scanner makes it much easier to place my finger in the right spot. Overall, I think this is a great case / cover for the phone.One caveat: if you wish to use that 360 degree camera that these were bundled with on Cyber Monday, then you will have to remove this case to attach it. However, they do make some with the cutout for the camera. I just don't know why anyone would want that camera.

Super nice case. Originally I didn't want to put a case on my Essential Phone (it's such a gorgeous phone when caseless), but since it's so slippery and I dropped my phone twice within the first week of getting it I decided I must get one. Glad I bought this one.Earpiece Issue: I'm on my third Essential Phone now. I returned 2 of them a week after purchasing because the earpiece felt came out. On my current (third) I decided a case would be needed. This case seems to offer decent protection of the earpiece and it hasn't fallen out yet.Pros:- It's not too thick (I hate thick phone cases)- Seems to offer good protection- No branding (much like the phone itself)- Offers great grip on the sides- Side buttons feel premium and are well-madeCons:- Lip around the sides greatly reduces the beauty of the Essential Phone's bezel-less screen (but what can you expect... it's a phone case)You can see in my picture of the back of the case, there is a magnetic piece I attached. It's for my car mount, try to ignore it!

I've used this case now for close to 2 1/2 years. At first I thought it was kind of expensive for a fairly basic-looking case. But it has proven to be very durable, and very grippy. Complements the phone well. It fits the phone very well (with just a tiny bit of looseness at one of the corners), with all the openings and buttons lining up perfectly. I bought the dark smoke color one, and have not noticed any yellowing or discoloring. In fact, I'm thinking of buying a second Essential Phone, and I may buy this case again!

This case is very durable and light. My issue is that I wanted a clear case so that you could see the beautiful PH-1 underneath not cover up the phone. The back is clear-ish, but has small dots that take away from the appearance a bit. Also, after some time the rubber case starts turning a yellowish color. It definitely makes the phone easier to grip. Overall a good case that does not add a lot of bulk to the phone but offers very good protection and durability.

Great option if you want a case that provides adequate protection that has good grip while taking a slim form factor with a clear look.Pros:- Great Grip while holding phone compared to without case- Clear case shows off the beautiful ceramic back of the phone- Lip at the front of the phone ensures that the screen never makes contact with the floor/table- Cutouts are perfect and don't look misaligned- Volume and Power cutout are easy to pressCons:- Dust seems to get trapped inside the case and needs to be cleaned occasionally- Fingerprint residue collects on the back of the case and I regularly have to wipe it off- At certain angles the back of the case shows a rainbow effect

Good find since there is not much available out there. I got the clear and it is VERY clear. Lets the beauty of the essential phone show through. Good texture on the side and a good lip to protect the screen face down. The side buttons work well. My only draw back is I feel the phone is not super secure in place. Doesn't take much to pop it out of the case, so not for "extreme" use. But over all, I'm satisfied but will probably change if there are other interesting options available in the future *choke*Fosmon*choke*...
