Pebeo 523800 1 Litre Gesso, Transparent

I’ve included a couple of photos. This gesso is great and provides a transparent finish. Dries quickly, retaining the transparency so the grain of the canvas is visible. I only needed two coats, and I got 8 primed canvases from the one litre, three 150x105cm and five 50x 60cm canvas pieces. This product holds the paint firm, combined well with oil and acrylic. Watercolour is ok, but more work needed from the artist Side. No harsh odour, avoid contact with skin and definitely clothes. Be mindful.Delivery was one day. I bought this for a paint by numbers canvass to smooth the dimples out. I only gave it 1 coat so some minor dimples still showing and could have put another coat on but it certainly takes the gloss off the canvass and makes the acrylic paints 'stick' to the canvas and not lift off when brushing as can sometimes happen. Its the first time i have used Gesso so cannot compare to other brands but to be honest i dont see the need to try a different one as it worked so well and dried completely clear.

This is great for priming wooden panels for oil painting. It's easy to apply and seals well. It means you have a toned surface to paint on - the natural wood colour. Excellent. It goes on slightly milky but dries clear.

This is a bit more expensive than other brands but worth it for professional artists. I use it to prime boards but it works well with other surfaces too. It goes on opaque, quickly drying to clear. You're left with a toothy surface which is good for mixed media. Others may find it too rough for detail work depending on your preferences and style. It's also good for experimenting with: mix it with acrylic or use it like a medium.
