VERY SOLID, VERY EASY TO INSTALL, EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. COMES WITH A VERY USEFUL DEADLOCK FEATURE.

This was bought as a replacement for the same model lock where the snib had become detached. I only needed the body of the lock and used the same backplace and higher rated Yale cylinder as before. The replacement took little more than a couple of minutes to fit. Just two screws to remove the old lock and fit the new one. It all works smoothly and solved a problem with minimum fuss but there is a difference from the previous lock which rather cheapens its appeal. The handle on the previous lock was a satisfying, smooth affair with a tactile, rounded back, such that you did not notice it when opening the door. The new one looks the same, except the back is cut out so instead of a smooth rounded handle you have the same frontage but a cut out hollow back which obviously doesn't affect the working of the lock but does make the otherwise smart looking lock feel a bit cheap and nasty when you hold the cut back handle. It might have saved a couple of pence a lock but questions qulity, encouraging you to wonder what other corners are being cut to shave production costs. So, to sum up, a good, solid lock, with a smooth mechanism and a cheap, budget handle.

Great product at a great price

Like other who have reviewed this lock I was replacing an older version of this model. I like the deadlocking feature which in Yales line up is unique to this model. Installaton was swift as the parts are identical despite replacing a lock that was at least a decade old. Producton has clearly shifted overseas as the old model was clearly marked "Made in England" on the inner frame and that branding is absent from the new one.My main complaint is the literal penny pinching from the handle. In the older model this was cast solid and has a smooth back. The newer version is cast hollow with the back of the handle cut out. This makes it feel cheap and leads me to have concerns over what other internal changes Yale made to cut corners. The few pennies (if that) this change yielded can't be worth the bad taste it leaves in loyal customers mouths.

Replaced a similar basic night latch with this. Easy to fit, functions well and looks quite smart.

Good looking quality lock. Bought to replace old tired looking lock.
