Useful and quick way to check lead-acid car batteries instead of using the battery hydrometer. Has easy-to-read meter, Unit is compact in size with handy carrying handle. Price is very reasonable. Has clever design for storing cables on the unit but the cables could stand to be another 4-6 inches longer.

This is a really good tester on its category!!! And it has a very reasonable price!!! And it works great.I must highlight that after purchasing this tester, I learnt that the new smart battery testers give you the real condition of the battery at test, while that the load/resistor ones like this might no be telling you the actual internal condition of your battery. So, you can get a "Green" from these type of testers and have a battery that will die and leave you stranded if your alternator fails on the road.I'd recommend everybody to buy the new smart testers instead of this type. They are more expensive, but you'll have a better "bang for your bucks".

Hooked this to my wall socket to measure my house load but the readings were all wonkey. Then in less than 10 seconds it caught fire a little bit even though the label says its good for up to 10 seconds. Also the handle got really hot and I burned my fingers which surprised me. I'll know better for next time. All in all I'd give it 5 out of 10 stars.

Exceeded expectations.Should rename the company YESCO. Tried this product out upon receipt and was not disappointed. Great product considering it comes from Chin@. Meter is damped and smooth moving, clamps good, test switch good. A normal test time is to be 10 seconds and 15 seconds is max allowed according to manufacturer. The load is a 100 amp heating element so of course there needs to be a time limit or it would overheat. With a known load value, the meter calculates cranking amps according to voltage drop during the test. If any thing goes haywire I'll try my to adjust this review accordingly. Well worth the $20 paid in June 2015. Afterward I checked out a big name competitor at wm and it seemed everything on that unit was flimsier from the clamps right down to the steel used for the case, and it was $15 more. The NOCO looks like a winner and I hope they always keep making them like this and don't cave in to cost cutting..One upgrade I plan to make on it is to add a small 2-wire digital 2.5 to 30volt readout (available on ebay for about $2) for a second opinion on accuracy. Solid Value, Would buy again.

It works well but I'm waiting for this thing to start on fire. I've used plenty of these before but even if you flick it on for just a second and get a good reading it begins to smell like something is melting on the inside of it.

If you’re a DIY’r then this battery load tester is a must for the price. Of course you could take your batter to pretty much any auto center and have it tested, they probably use a similar device. It’s pretty straight forward tool to use. Connect the claps and press the button and it tells you if the battery is in good, weak or in bad condition by measuring the voltage under load. You also can test engine cranking ability, battery state of charge, and the charging system. Your battery may show 12.6v on the meter, doesn’t mean it has the current to start the car. You need to put a load on the battery and this tester does the job. It’s made pretty decent, all metal body, including the handle. Clamps and cables are copper, good quality as you would expect.

In essence it's just a heating element that draws 100a at 12v, with a calibrated volt meter showing what the amp capability of the battery is.But when your testing batteries, this is a must have. I've tried the no load electronic testers and the really is no substitute for actually applying a heavy load to a battery when testing it.

Very well built, sturdy, and really precise. I did some test with it, and this Battery Tester worked very well (the test was made using my precision electronic tester). And have a nice price, once I did a research in the internet, and I saw prices higher than this one from Amazon.ca

Works well. Clamp holders on side of unit could be a bit more robust — bends rather easily.Otherwise a great unit

Works as it should and handy to have in the shop! I wasnt sure what the quality would be like based on the price, but it is decent.

I have a lot of different batteries new and old. The readings seem accurate with the performance they give. You can't rely just on voltage for cranking batteries. This is a good price/performance buy.
