So I do recommend anyone getting hold of a copy of the DVD
several hours, 4 DVDs long, this attempts in a TV mini series to capture something of the conflicts and tensions of the early followers of Jesus.Yes, It uses a lot of creative imagination to tell a story, rather than merely rely on Lukes bare narrative from Acts of the Apostles. For those who consider this a treasonable offence, to ‘add to Scripture’, I always remind them…. Which account of Matthew, Mark , Luke, John do you want to exclusively follow or rely on, or even which 20 different manuscript endings of Mark , let alone the elusive ‘Q’ document , do you wish to follow and rely on?The AD Kingdom and Empire storyline has followers of Jesus the Nazarene, ( the derogatory nickname of Christian was only much later thought up in Antioch ) creatively moving out of Jerusalem to form a new encampment or community and most creatively had the Emperor Tiberias ( 42 BC – 37AD) visit unstable and regularly revolting Jerusalem with his nephew Caligula (12AD – 41AD) . Although there is no evidence that Tiberias left the island of Capri off the coast of Pompeii and modern day Naples , on balance it helps the viewer to capture something of the deep and dangerous conflicts and tensions of the time and Jerusalem. Caligula did in fact according to records go on to order a large statue of himself in the Jerusalem Temple to collectively punish the Jewish people , even though he was advised how inflammatory it would be. There no evidence Caligula actually physically went to Jerusalem but the directors rather that the reality of rather dry drawn out written diplomatic messages in the screen play, the tension is certainly caught by the face to face dialogue, and challenges us how incredibly dangerous a place Jerusalem , the home of the staunchly Jewish embryo church was’ until bulldozing Paul of Tarsus came along….The City of Jerusalem and the Temple were physically saved for a few more years ( this is where the DVD leaves us), until the next major jewish revolt in 67 led to the besieging and complete destruction in AD 70 by the Roman general Titus .This forced the Jerusalemite Christian believers to flee and abandon proximity to the places of Jesus historical sites of his trial , crucifixion and burial, to the Deserts of Sinai , region of Petra to the East, modern day Iraq and Iran towards India, to the West along the trade routes through modern day Turkey, to Rome and beyond. So I do recommend anyone getting hold of a copy of the DVD, even it sends us scurrying back to Biblical canon documents to check things out there, as well as in Tacitus and Josephus.

a dramatization of early Christianity
This 12-episode TV series is a sequel to The Bible - TV Miniseries [Blu-ray ]. But, unfortunately, it's neither as epic nor as well-made as that earlier series. Whereas the original series presented events as described throughout the Old Testament and certain parts of the New Testament (the four Gospels and bits and pieces of the Acts), offering a story focussed on more than 4,000 years of Biblical history, this new series draws only on the first ten chapters of the Acts of the Apostles. With far less material to work from, the pace of the show is far slower. What we get is a look at the initial period of early Christianity immediately following the crucifixion. For some reason, the first episode of this second series repeats events already depicted in the original series. And an all-new cast have been employed, rather than making use of the same actors from the first series. In consequence, this doesn't really feel like a 'sequel'. Overall, I felt that the acting was not quite as good as in the original, and the CGI special effects were inferior.Given how well-made the original series was, I had high hopes for this show. But, unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. If you're interested in early Christian history then I do recommend this DVD. Yet it ought to have been a far more grand show.

A Christian show for anyone
Very passionate presentation of one of the biggest moments of the Bible. The most impressive thing about this it is one of the few Christian shows presented that you can show to both a Christian and those who are not. This is not a Christian show for Christians who speak to other Christians. Anyone can watch this and enjoy it with the set design and effects being breathtaking, superb acting, well written adaptation and just gripping not for children at all this does show alot of brutal death and sex references. For adults only.

VERY GOOD INSPIRING SERIES
I have just finished watching the 4 disc series of 12 episodes which was really excellent. Sadly the story is incomplete! There is no series 2 which is a shame because the quality of the episodes and characters was outstanding. I had read that this was axed but hopefully someone else will take up the reigns later. I would obviously recommend this purchase as its really good. Maybe we can hope for a series 2 in the future?

worth seeing
this is really quite good...Not Bible teaching as such, but interesting...It is well acted, well directed, and gives a different - though plausible - perspective on the lives of significant people at the time. There are a few presumptions, but the scriptural aspects are almost always quite accurate - certainly plausible without violating the scriptures.Whereas "The Bible" was rather gratuitous in its violence, this series - although rough at times - seems not to seek reasons to show fighting, but concentrates on the interactions and intrigues of the characters.

God's word everyday is the most important.
I discovered that they do not plan to make a new season of this fantastic series , I loved everything about it , before I purchased it . Would Love to watch more series like this one ,on Prime Video. I recommend this to any Christian; that like to also read the word of God.

Entertaining, but off-centre.
Interesting and entertaining, with some great acting. But alas, like all Hollywood films based on the Bible, it's off-centre with the narrative in many places and therefore not so reliable as a teaching tool or guide.
