Works Well and Good Value
Used this on a heavily thatched lawn and had very good results even without weight. The tines are well built and effective, and the frame is adequate. I'd prefer some vertical adjustment in the hitch, but you can adjust the frame and wheels to get the tines level with a bit of fiddling. Assembly looks easy, but it is not. I'm fairly experienced and it took me over 2 hours and a good amount of frustration. The drawings are large and mostly clear, but are sorely in need some text and warnings. Parts can go on multiple ways but are not functional unless installed in the exact orientation pictured. The drawings are very confusing because the unit is sometimes pictured wheels up, sometimes wheels down. Sometimes pointing away, sometimes pointed towards you. I had to study the diagrams closely, flip them around for orientation, and still had to partially disassemble and reassemble to get parts to line up correctly. Argh! Also, you must squeeze the tines at the wide part of the V to insert them into the brackets. Easy enough, but note it in the dang instructions! I almost knocked off a star for assembly frustration. However, assembly is a onetime hassle, and then the device works well. Much more convenient and cost effective than a power rake. I would buy this again.

Great dethatcher for behind lawn tractor
The only reason for 4 stars; the assembly for the handle was a little difficult, and the instructions could be more clear, but we finally got it assembled with a little tweak from the instruction. We ordered the 40" and it is the perfect size to pull behind our lawn tractor, and it was so easy to attach. It worked great, couldn't believe all the dead grass it pulled up, I should have taken a picture. We went over our lawn several times and then used our hand mower to bag all the dead grass. We think dethatching made the lawn look so much better, there wasn't as much dead grass mixed in with the good healthy grass. We plan on doing it again this fall and re-seeding. If you don't want to pay someone to do the dethatching of your lawn this is a nice little de-thatcher for you to do yourself. We figured when we go to store it this winter we will remove the handle and it should stand up on the wheels against the shed wall, shouldn't take up too much room. It was a great purchase and we would recommend it.

Solid little piece
This little guy was a beast. Assembly was slow, but I parked my butt in front of a cheesy horror movie that had something to do with fish and got to work. Definitely get two ratching socket wrenches for this, the bolts/nuts are not easy to hold in place with they flat wrenches they supply. Outside of that the instructions were easy to follow, too about an hour with some interruptions to pet the dogs. I hooked this thing up and made a few passes around the small/flat section stop of my yard without weighting it, and it worked great. It pulled up a lot of the thatched down grass (and left over clippings). Ultimately, I still had to buy the bagger (so don't think of this as a replacement) and they canโt be used concurrently- but I am still happy with this purchase and it has really been helping with my yard smoothing project. I have gone over about an acre and a half of space twice now and the lifting mechanism still works well and everything still feels solid and together.

transport bar not designed correclty
The lever that locks the wheels in place for transport is not designed correctly. You will need to modify it with a welder for it to work properly. Other than that the dethatcher is pretty solid. I was able to dethatch my lawn successfully and would recommend two concrete blocks for added weight. The only issue is the transport lever. I had to reach back and hold it in place to keep the wheels down. I will weld a modification to this as seen in other reviews. Assembly was easy but i used a socket set instead of the provided wrenches.

Really impressive quality compared to big box store equivalent
I bought this because I just wanted a simple tow behind dethatcher and from seeing them at the box stores, figured this would be the same. It's not, it's better. First, unlike the store ones which have glossy paint which flakes off right away, this is entirely powder coated. The handle has a decent rubber grip attached, and the tines are actually bolted in rather than just fit or stuck in with spring pressure. The tires actually have a solid rubber tread and don't feel like they'll fall off in a year. The packaging was really excellent, the directions were clear, and they included all the wrenches and even gloves. I recommend getting a socket set out if you don't want to take forever, and definitely wear some gloves to handle the tines, they are sharp. Went together great, worked great. If I have one criticism, it is that the hitch bracket section is a bit squirrely to put together and I would have much preferred some sort of monolothic hitch bracket instead of the two-way flat stock sandwich. For the price, though, I can't really complain especially with powder coating.

Hardware Will Rust Fast
Works as expected but let it sit outdoors for about two weeks and all of the hardware components completely rusted.

Not Great but not bad
I am amending my review from 3 stars to 4 stars. This tool did a great job dethatching my 3/4 acre. If the axle was stronger, then I would rate it as 5 stars. There are good directions/diagrams for assembly. Assembly takes a long time with so many small parts that need to be bolted together. The finished Dethatcher works quite well without blocks but it is better to have some blocks for more weight - but the axle is too weak and mine bent when raising or lowering the tines. The axle needs to be much stronger. I easily straightened it by stepping on it and will at some time bolt on an addition metal bar to strengthen the axle.

Works really well
Great tool for the yard. Well made fairly easy to assemble if you are handy and it worked really well once I placed some weight on it.

Bolt holes don't line up
Unfortunately the bolt holes don't line up to put the rake tines on the unit. Very disappointed.
