Q: How do you adjust the planting depth?

Not sure. My instruction book was in Chinese I believe so had to figure how to work it on my own. Not sure you can adjust depth. Seemed to plant seeds between 3/4-1” deep.

Q: Where can I find an English manual?

I couldn’t find one. Had to just figure it out on my own.

Q: How well does this do at planting into a no-till garden, where the soil is somewhat firm and has annual roots in it?

It would set seeds in a soft soil, well mulched and not too compacted. The wedges that roll around can only go so far as the soil will allow, the machine is not heavy. If you have soil that is firm one of the jab type seeders would work better. They make an auto seeder similar in operation that looks like a pogo stick, I have a few of those too and they work better in harder soil. This really is a great machine for rolling out long rows of corn, beats, or whatever, I think I seeded 8000 sq ft in 10-15 mins.
