HP Original 3500 3700 Q3656A - Fuser kit (220/240 V)

My model (3550n) was not quite the same as what what illustrated in the supplied instructions. Also, the instruction illustrations were difficult to understand. Consequently it took me longer than should have been the case to replace the Fuser unit itself.What turned out to be far more difficult was the replacement 'wheel' which is also supplied as part of the kit. This is located above the paper tray and for some reason it did not want to go in. After applying some moderate pressure, i managed to snap a small white plastic bearing that the wheel spindle sits inside and it took me ages to figure out what had happened. Luckily I did manage to manoeuvre the item back into place despite the damage and it all works ok now.

This fuser unit clearly says which models it is for. But do double check that your exact model is there. This was not compatible with my printer - an HP CP3505 - which I wrongly assumed would be ok with the 3500 series. No problem returning but do learn from my mistake! Similarly definitely worth considering at what point is it worth paying for a new fuser as opposed to putting it towards a new printer where other parts - eg paper handling - will last longer. This particular fuser isn't too bad in price but the one I needed was way over £100 and only worth buying because of toner stocks held in hand.

Worked, printer again functioning. However a huge box and no recycling facilities provided so not 5 star HP please note.

I ordered this fuser kit and on insertion the printer made a grinding noise and chewed up every sheet that went through. I took it to a printer repair company who tell me that it is a refurbished fuser, not new as advertised, and is bent and can't be fixed. Not happy.

Really good service and once fitted our printer came back to life. Now happily printing again without eating cartridges on our other printers. If you have a problem with your printer caused by the fuser just buy this - it works.

I bought this for a Laserjet 3550N which after 3 years of faithful service developed a 'Fuser error'. This has solved the problem, so hopefully we have another 3 years of good printing ahead!
