Works Great
If you follow the directions that come with this, it works beautifully. The trick to crushing without putting holes through the cups is to 'crush' WITH JUST ENOUGH FORCE to break them into smaller pieces. Then you gently 'pound' them to a fine powder. When I am crushing several meds at once, I pick the souffle cups up, and lifting the top one ONLY SLIGHTLY, I give the contents a gentle shake. This allows the broken up pills to mix and makes them crush more consistently. Just rememeber - for best performance - always follow the directions. This may take some experimenting and you may have to crush some pills by themselves if they need a lot of pressure so you don't re-compact the softer ones. Also, I do not recommend crushing a huge quantity at a time. I would recommend this to anyone who has to crush lots of medications. I have used this unit many times in hospitals, and bought one for home to grind my mother-in-law's medications. I use this thing every single day, and she even uses it with ease. She has thanked me over and over for this, calling it her "miracle" - it's made crushing a LOT of pills every day into a painless chore. We even are able to re-use the souffle cups at home (you can't do that in a hospital setting as you would cross-contaminate the medications with the residue of other patient's meds, of course). I have had no problems with this and believe this is worth every penny I spent on it.

Very sturdy pill crusher
Love the metal pill crusher. It crushes the pills to a fine powder with ease. It holds the 3/4 oz size souffle cups for the meds. In a pinch I have used the 1 oz size, but the top needs trimmed from the little cups first so that it will fit down in the crusher.

Good product, worth the price
I'm an RN and I purchased this to crush my mom's medication. I've used these for years in the hospital and they work perfectly IF YOU USE IT CORRECTLY. It's very easy--just press down on the handle. No need to slam it down over and over. Although you do need some strength in your hands to be able to use it.I found this to be a nice quality product. Very heavy. I would recommend using paper soufflé cups with it so the medicine doesn't stick to the metal (put the pill in between 2 cups).

no better than a paper weight
This item was very expensive and I thought was going to crush my wifes meds with ease. It does not and is no better than a paper weight. I purchased some $6.00 dollar crusher that works great. If I could get my money back I would love too. I have purchased a great deal of items from amazon and have been very happy with my purchases. This is one that was very expensive and worthless.Ron

It's Just ok
I like the heavy duty construction, but as another reviewer has said, many pills need to be cut and then crushed more than once and then scraped off of the crushing surface with a butter knife. The larger and/or harder pills will go through the souffle cup and leave a whole in the bottom of both (doubled) cups, even then the pills aren't totally crushed. It works in a crunch when there is nothing else, but I will have to try a mini coffee grinder even after this purchase. It was not a waste of money, because I am using it, but not quite what I hoped for.
