Doilies in Color Paperback – 15 Mar. 2012

The designs in this pattern book are lovely and I have made two so far. I found this instructions clear and easy to follow but you must be able to convert into american terms as these are used. The designs are graded in difficulty, but as I have been doing this craft for a long time none of them fazed me. I do think if you are a beginner just take your time, remember the instructions are american and you should be fine as after all crochet is not rocket science after you have mastered the basic techniques. One thing though I used the recomended hook sizes and thread ply but even with careful blocking of the finished article they didn't really come out at the sizes quoted which was fine as I didn't want then so big. Some of the designs are 20inches in diameter so to get it correct a bit of fiddling around with hook sizes and guage samples is required.Overall I am delighted as the finished designs are fresh and contempory not like something cleared out of grannies house.

As an experienced crocheter I wanted some patterns with a bit more of a challenge. I also wanted a few different designs with fine detail. This book did not disappoint. So far I've done 3 of the patterns, all of which were accurate (so often I find faults in the patterns). The only down side is that people see them and keep asking me to make them one :)

This book has a lovely selection of patterns at varying levels of difficulty. There are 9 patterns in all; 2 “easy”, 6 “intermediate” and 1 “experienced”.The book uses American terminology, but includes a stitch guide in the back which may help with conversion.The instructions are well laid out and clear, with each pattern having a notes section detailing any special stitches used, as well as materials required etc (see photo).There are no stitch diagrams.All in all, this was a good purchase for me, but unless you are happy to work with US instructions and no stitch diagrams, this may not be the book for you.

Purchased as a Christmas prsent for someone who enjoys crochet. Looking through the book was very pleasing. Very nice quality, clear print, and pictures and well laid out, and easy to follow instructions. The range of patterns from easy, through to experienced offers something for everyone. Should be vey well received.

This was ok however not having done anything out of the book I cannot comment on the ease with which the patterns are set out

Fabulous book, I have done 3 doilies from the book so far. All turned out beautifully. At the moment I am doing the Gardenias doily but have done the flowers in lemon. It looks lovely evening if I do say so myself.

Nothing much very disappointed

I bought this for my mother and she says it's the best gift she's had in years. The designs are so new and refreshing. I've started framing them - that's how beautiful they are. The patterns are all rated as medium skill and are written in the same manner as most crochet patterns. The finished sizes listed don't take into account different types of thread so a doily can end up being very large or surprisingly small.

表紙が気になって買ってみました。花をテーマに９個のデザインが載ってます。眺めているだけでも楽しい１冊です。アイリッシュ・クロシェの様な立体の薔薇のモチーフを組み込んだ作品が数点あります。全て１０番レース糸を使用。日本のように編み図は無く、編み方が英語で表記されているので、多少の英語力は必要になります。掲載されている作品は1 Gardenias：立体の花のモチーフを組み込み、外側にパイナップル編みをしたドイリー。水色、表紙左端の作品。2 Pink Sunset：ピンク色でモチーフをあみ、８角形に配置したモチーフ編みのドイリー。3 Marigolds：濃い生成りでハプコーン編みを入れたドイリー。表紙右上端の作品。4 Irish Rose：薄いブラウンでネット編みを駆使した繊細なドイリー。5 Circle of Roses：アッシュピンクでネット編みをあみ、外側に白で立体花モチーフを、緑で葉を編んで囲んだドイリー6 White Shamrocks：白１色で編んだドイリー。中央に立体花モチーフを配置し、周囲に３片の花モチーフを組み込んだドイリー。表紙題名の後ろにある白い作品。7 Forget-me-not：白でパイナップル編みをあみ、先に３つの水色の小さな花を配置したドイリー。8 Orange Blossoms：オレンジ色で花モチーフを編み、白で繋ぎ合わせたドイリー。表紙金魚鉢の下にある作品。9 Floating Petals：白の中に，カラフルな６片の花モチーフを組み込んだドイリー。パッと花が咲いたようなドイリーが載っていて、編みたい作品がたくさんあります。技術的にも基本なものが多いので、かぎ針を多少こなした方ならわかると思います。本のできとしては☆５。しかし、日本ではカラフルな糸はエミーグランデを使うか、後生産業の３０番レース糸を使うしかなさそうなので、糸を探す方が大変かもしれません。
