Update after 18 months of use: I've had 12 of these in my kitchen since Jan 2016. Two have failed this week, which I (conservatively) estimate to be about 2000 hours of use. That's better than other LED bulbs I've tried but nowhere near the advertised life. I've therefore downgraded my rating from 5 stars to 4.I have tried a number of different LED spot light bulbs and have been very disappointed to discover that they fail even more quickly than standard bulbs. These are different though and have been brilliant so far. They provide a really nice wide, diffused light, are exactly the same size as standard MR16 bulbs, and so far have been 100% reliable. I bought 4 just to see how they were and have since bought another 8 to replace all of my other spot lights. The other advantage is that these seemed to work with some of my old transformers which did not work with other LED bulbs (I began buying some specific LED-bulb transformers, but have not needed them now).

I've been trying out a few different brands whilst replacing all the lights in our flat with LEDs. However these unfortunately were the worst that I had tried, Not in terms of the light that it emits in this case, but the quality of the components. Yes, they are much cheaper than a leading brand such as Philips, but in this case it really showed. Once they were installed, some of them flickered some of them didn't, which was a shame as the light quality was actually fairly good. There was also quite a loud buzzing sound from the lights as well, which in combination with the intermittent flickering meant I had to send them back. Replaced them with a more expensive brand, which all work perfectly, no buzzing and no flickering, just how it should be. Bit disappointing really.

It's very difficult to find good quality bulbs these days. The market is flooded with poor items, sometimes even quite expensive that stop working quickly, not bright enough or create a light of a weird spectrum.These bulbs are really good: bright and even light. Hope they will last long as well.

I am swapping out my halogen downlights and started with more expensive ones and have various problems with them, so though I would give these a try...I am now replacing all my halogen and other LED ones with these, highly recommended.

I bought these for my kitchen as a house plan to move to leds and save some money on my electricity bills. These are the best LEDs I've bought for my house - they are very bright but natural light - more light the old type of bulbs. My electricity bill plummeted - so I would definitely recommend it's worth the initial investment - and these were very well priced to start with.

LED's are clearly the way to go, the light from these lamps is daylight quality as colours appear as true under this light as full daylight. Unlike previous energy saver designs which, show colours significantly altered under their harsh, yellowish light. Also, LED's actually come on as soon as they are switched on, unlike same predecessor which, warm up over a considerable time.

Extremely low wattage, just as bright as the 35W that I currently have. Only two points to consider:- Colour is definitely not white, but it's not as warm as standard "energy saver" bulbs- 110 degree angle will not give you the 'spotlight' effect, but for me it didn't matter and fully lights up a room
