Extreme® Wood and Laminate 5mm Foamboard Underlay - Built in DPM - Alternative to Fibreboard

I needed three sheets of this, but couldn't say no to the price, My porch had a concrete floor which was very cold to the touch. When I finished rebuilding the porch, the last thing I did after re-roofing, painting, insulating and plastering it etc was to put the floor down. Three sheets of this covered my area and was very easy to cut to fit - much better than the roll up stuff. Easy to manage sizes that can be cut so easily. On top of these I put laminate flooring. As this is a sharpish foam underlay, is molds to the shape of the floor. So any stones or lumpy bits in the concrete or your screed, are immediately absorbed by this - leaving a true flat surface to place your laminate on. Having had it in for a few months I can confirm the floor is notably warmer. As for the excess, I found a use for it. I had enough left to put on my shed floor on to which I placed old laminate from my living room (and even in there is has made a difference).

This is an excellent product which is easy to cut and lay. It has excellent properties. The soundproofing is quite good and its thermal insulation is its most impressive feature. The engineered wood floor layed on top is always at room temperature.

Very thin. Easily breakable. Only suitable for light usage areas. Does not give support under heavier furniture...breaks through

I've not tried using underlay tiles before, I only needed 2 sq metres, to cover a porch, but nobody does it small quantities, I knew I had lots of underlay left over from previous DIY's but can never find any when the time comes. Having laid the Laminate flooring, and searching for edging for the skirting, I found a pile of the underlay that I already had in the attic.

Excellent product for the price. Lightweight and easy to fit. If you have an overlap in the materials rest one over the top of the other and cut with a Stanley knife through both and you have an exact fit! (Little tip there!) also off cuts used as knee pads, tape a few bits together. (Another tip) all jokes aside it is cheaper than the rolls of white underlay material, far superior for basic fitting, probably work well with more expensive floors too. Uneven floors in a 160 year old house allows the insulation to absorb some of the differences, all in all well pleased and would buy again! Cheers

Highly disappointed by the quality. Not good value for money.

Easy to use and great for uneven floors

Good product, but the same is 3.5 pounds cheaper on ebay from the same seller. I feel fooled. And the colour is actually light green.
