No messy iTunes library any more
I got this piece of software from my fiance (he was tired of my messy iTunes library). Skeptical of this app at first I am totally impressed after using coverscout. My blanks are filled with artwork and the coverflow function is my best buddy now.I can recommend coverscout anybody having a big library with a lot of missing artwork. It's fun to clean it up with coverscout.

Made life easy for me
I'm writing this review in January of 2017. The version in the box isn't compatible with Sierra, so just go to their website and download the newest version and use the activation key that came in the box. You have to create an account with Equinux in order to activate, and the software "locks" to your computer. In other words: to move it to another computer, you've got to deactivate on one computer and then reactivate it. Bottom line: make sure the company is still in business before you buy this. Now for how well it works. In short, fairly well, with a few caveats and a recommendation. First of all, getting your album artwork through iTunes is the best way to go. It's fast and easy, the artwork looks great and it takes up less room on your devices. The downside is that non-iOS devices can't see the artwork. If you use both iOS and Android, embedding the artwork in the file is the way to go.When you first launch CoverScout, it finds your iTunes music library. You can also direct it to other folders to work on. I have almost 2000 albums, so it took a bit of to analyze. Then it displays your artwork in a coverflow-like interface, as well as a list view. This makes it easy to see what you're missing. You can also select a filter that just shows albums missing artwork. I tried to use the auto-download function - letting CoverScout do it all for me - but it didn't seem to work. Later on, I saw that CoverScout completed certain tasks that I thought failed. Either it's working in the background, or it takes iTunes and the finder time to catch up. So maybe if I let the "auto function" continue, it would have done it's thing. However, I recommend against this. When I was doing it manually, I saw that the "first pick" wouldn't have been MY first pick. ScoverScout shows a selection of artwork, and you pick what you like. Contrary to what another reviewer said, this is much easier than doing a search on Amazon and then dragging it to iTunes. If no artwork is found for a particular album, you can chose "Web Search", and it uses a few other sites, which found most of what I was looking for. The only problem with the web search function is that the artwork tends to be very low resolution. I would like to see better integration with another website - albumartexchange.com - which has the highest quality artwork. I was eventually able to use this site with CoverScout, although it was a little clunky. Now for the awesome part. One of CoverScout's functions is to embed iTunes artwork into the actual file! You can use iTunes to download all the artwork it can, then CoverScout will embed it! This was a killer feature for me, because I wanted embed all my artwork. That feature alone saved me a ton of time. It did come at a little time cost; I had to let it run overnight (embedding artwork into 47,000 songs is tough; I keep both Apple Lossless and 128kb AAC files on all of my music). It crashed three times, and after the second crash the artwork didn't actually embed, even though it looked like it did. But eventually everything went through. One of the features is a filter called "albums with incomplete covers". What this does is show albums that have embedded artwork, but not on every track. It allows you to drag an image from one of the songs to the top, and then it copies that image to the rest of the album.Bottom line, this program makes something that can be very time consuming and streamlines it. And it's still being updated in 2017.

Disappointing
The idea of CoverScout is great. My iTunes library was missing approx. 200 covers out of 1000. I let CoverScout automatically fill the blanks. What happened was quite a mess. Not more than 20% of the covers were found correctly. Cleaning up the situation took hours. This software does not help in any way. You can do the job much better by looking for the album cover at amazon and transfer it to iTunes. CoverScout does nothing different, exept that it is choosing the wrong covers. Not worth the money.

Geht so!
Ich habe es immer noch nicht geschafft, CoverScout in's ITunes ein zu binden. Ich bekomme permanent Fehlermeldungen, mit denen ich nichts anfangen kann. Kann auch an mir liegen, ich weiß es nicht.
