tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat (horizontal mounting) - Add-on for Multi-Room Control, intelligent heating control

Bought on prime day when on offer. Amazing room control, if you have bought or thinking of buying tado system, THIS is a necessity and i believe should be bundled with the package as this is what sets tado above the rest. I bought 6 for each room in the house and now no room ever gets too hot or too cold. I turn on/off or the temp up/down for each individual room depending on if I'm using that room, so the boiler doesn't have to work as hard to heat up just one or two rooms. I work from home frequently, so i just heat up my office but turn down the other radiators using my phone, and if i want to use any others room, just turn up that room and it heats up much quicker too. Bottom line - well worth the investment for me, wish I'd bought it sooner! Also on the app, it provides a graph for each individual room which shows temperature throughout the day and how much the boiler was used. It was very very simple and easy to install and comes with a variety of adapters that i didn't need to use fortunately.

Have now added 12 Tado smart radiator thermostats to my already excellent Tado Smart Room thermostat and V2 bridge and extension starter kit which I've owned for nearly 12 months. Works brilliantly, easy to set up with good instructions, convenient, excellent customer service and a fantastic phone app to make ease of use ... a breeze! Now have multizone heating control in my house. With Danfoss RA radiator valves, the plastic RA adaptors that come supplied are not suitable and smart radiator thermostats fall off when heated up. Luckily I read the previous reviews and was forewarned and ordered additional metal RA adaptors online that securely connect Tado Smart Radiator Thermostats to my existing Danfoss RA radiator valves. All of the metal RA adaptors I sourced via Amazon came with their own mini Allen key to secure screws to radiator valve for a firm grip. Others bought elsewhere online didn't but I had some spare in my toolbox. Looking forward to a comfortably heated home and reduced heating bills! Keep up the good work Tado, just change included plastic adaptors to metal for those customers that have Danfoss RA valves.

Very easy to install the whole system (one thermostat, 7 smart TRVs and one extension kit).The extension kit is definitely needed so that you can control the firing of the boiler by the thermostat and the smart TRVs.It was necessary to call Tado to ask them to include all my TRVs in the heating circuit, i.e. if one TRV needs heat, it asks the boiler to fire up through the extension kit (by default this is done only through the thermostats, but if you call them up, they configure your TRVs to do that as well).So far I love this solution and the individual control of the TRVs. I am in one room in the house during the day and I want only that room to be heated. It works great. Looking forward to checking the improvements in energy consumption after a few months usage

Works well but is tricky to install on Danfoss thermostatic valves. The RA type, generally the most recent ones are quite problematic. The issue is that the plastic adapter is the wrong size for the RA termination which means if you use the supplied adapter you cannot tighten fully the adapter on the valve ending as if you do then it becomes impossible to screw on the Tado. Emailed advice from Tado, I quote, "don't tighten the adapter or go and buy a 3rd. party adapter" which of course means additional costs.As for the app on an iPhone it's quite neat but still a work in progress as it lacks "summer cycling" to avoid stuck valves but the geo-fencing works well.Note that that only 8 zones (ie rooms or spaces in the house) are available which needs bearing in mind if you have a big house but each zone can have up to eight [I've got 3 of these in two of my zones] valves. In such a case one of the valves in the zone acts as a master for the others.Bottom line, will continue adding these units to all my radiators as it's clearly saving me money ( I have 10 so far).

I bought this a few weeks ago as we have a period house that is very difficult to heat. I use a Nest for the main kitchen/living area as this was a new build and has under floor heating. The rest of the house was zoned into three areas with time clocks and thermostatic valves on the radiators. When the heating came on the rooms would get really warm then lose heat quickly after the heating switched off!I installed the Tado system in all the rooms except the kitchen. Tado valves on the radiators, a wireless starter kit to control the downstairs zone and a wired thermostat to control the upstairs zone(i had two upstairs zones but have them operating as one now).Each room is a zone now with its on separate time/temperature schedule. Even rooms with more than one radiator can easily be configured in the app to make one room. Fitting all the valves was very easy and pairing all the devices was simple.During my research before buying I had worked out how it all worked and thought I needed to contact support to configure which zone controller was connected to each room device. After logging a call with support it was two days before a response, but this delay had been highlighted on the support page. Once contact was made they pointed me to the website instead of the app and there was the configuration options! I had one other query which they replied to straightaway during this contact.The rooms now have a comfortable heat at the times we use them and in particular the bedrooms are kept at a good temperature, especially during the past few cold nights.Yes, there is a noise from the valves when they operate as they are motorised! But it is not excessive! Can't remember which but it is either AA or AAA batteries in all the devices, so no odd or expensive batteries to replace.You can also go into each room with a thermometer, and if there's a difference between it and what the Tado device is reporting as the temp, you can set and offset value for that room so the Tado heats to a more accurate temperature.Love love love this system!!
