The application is to extend now 'legacy' PS2 type connections from a central rack room. Compatible KVM extenders are becoming more difficult to find and this TRENDnet kit works well. I have used IOGear (good unit)and Avocent Longview (dramatically more expensive in plastic) and find this TRENDnet version to be the best value yet in a very serviceable metal package.There is no 'hoop jumping' to install outside of the need to reboot some computers to fully establish communication. This model features both local and remote ports with automatic sensing. Cost effective, reliable and sturdy. Because some extender models (e.g., Avocent) will ONLY work with the 568B wiring standard, I have come to use 568B as a matter of course, which works with these units.

Did what it was described to do. In addition, my keyboard always turns off on its not sure why it doesn't stay on line like the mouse and the screen resolution also became small on the transmitter screen. Beside those facts, it work as what it was intended to.Edit: Today after about 1yr, the mouse stopped working both the transmitter and receiver.Returning for rma since device has 2yr limited warranty.

This device was easy to set up, and works well over a great distance, however I was disappointed to learn that the transmitter requires the USB connection for power, so you will need to hook it to a USB port on the PC even if you are only attaching a PS/2 keyboard and mouse.This was not specifically mentioned anywhere in the manual, but I tried it without the USB attached and it wouldn't light up. It works fine otherwise, and the receiver has it's own power cord.

Video transfer works fine, but I cannot get the mouse or keyboard to work.I have a support ticket in with Trendnet. Hopefully they can assist.

I ordered two of these and promptly returned them when they did not work. The remote monitor USB ports for keyboard and mouse would not work at all. Contacted TRENDnet technical support who said they were not working like they should and suggested I return them.

Difficult to setup.

Excellent product but lost a star as not supplied with a UK plug.
