I make coffee everyday and use this to even the water dispersion for my portafilter. Big thing with this is that it helps keep the brew head clean and less cleaning is better.

This filter is one of several different things needed to make a home espresso machine work as well as possible. I never had any idea how complex it was to make espresso. All this does make me appreciate the high cost at Starbucks a little bit more. A good cup of expresso definitely a bit labor intensive. That being said the screen seems to make the process easier. I have not quite perfected the cup but I am getting closer with this product, the distribution tamper and the needle distribution tool.

This is a nice product, though you should make sure to check it regularly for trapped grounds and potential mold along the rim if you don't clean and dry it regularly.I used it for months in place of paper filters, and the only damage done was the group head putting a small dent in the center the first time I used it.I think its worth it - for those with sensitive tastebuds, you don't get a paper back note with this when compared to the paper filters you can get, and it made maintaining the group head a much easier task.

The photos suggest there are two pucks, and it seems misleading.

Fits well in my Rancilio Silvia Portafilter. Only thing to note is that you will need to use a straight filter basket rather than the standard tapered basket. The screen does not go low enough to clear the nut in the group head. I had to switch to a larger gram basket with straight sides in order to accommodate the screen and use less grounds slightly. Overall the screen is made well and should last for awhile.
