Great usable information - volume 1
I love triads and K. Allison has hit a home run with Fingerboard Geometry Vol. 1 & 2. Understandable explanations with complementary exercises for each chapter. I can't say enough, get the book 1&2 and dive in. Octaves, intervals, arpeggio, triads. I plan to use both Volumes 1&2. Oh yeah, large print but not giant. This makes absolute sense. Thank you, K Allison, I am smiling now.

a must-have book for guitarists seeking to unlock the secrets of the fretboard
"Fingerboard Geometry Volume One: Basic Intervals & Arpeggios" by Kimberly K. Allison is a must-have book for guitarists seeking to unlock the secrets of the fretboard. It provides a systematic approach to understanding intervals and arpeggios, allowing you to expand your musical knowledge and skills. The author acknowledges the complexity of guitar logic compared to instruments like the piano, but she breaks down the concepts into practical shapes that make sense. The book is packed with over 200 exercises to reinforce your learning. The exercises are rewarding, and they will improve your fingerboard visualization skills. I appreciate the inclusion of diagrams, tablature, and standard notation, which cater to different learning styles. The tablature helps you check your progress, while the standard notation deepens your understanding of music theory. This book is recommended for guitarists with some musical experience, as it assumes a certain level of prior knowledge. What sets this book apart is the author's genuine passion for helping fellow guitarists. Kimberly K. Allison shares her own journey and the lessons she wished she had known earlier. As a reader, I found this relatable and inspiring. This book is an insightful and practical guide that will take your guitar playing to the next level. It's a valuable resource for anyone looking to understand the logic of the fretboard, decode intervals and arpeggios, and become a well-rounded musician. Don't miss out on this essential addition to your guitar library.

A Great Way of Thinking About Guitar Playing
When I came across this book, I had a little music background reading sheet music on the piano and playing some songs on the guitar primarily relying on tabs and open chords. I had no idea how guitarists played from sheet music, particularly since the same note appears in multiple places on the fretboard. This book, from the very first chapter, has great exercises that help me bridge that gap and understand my options in moving from one note to the next, whether it’s by a fifth, an octave or any other interval. This method of practicing and learning intervals has also helped me understand how chord shapes are constructed. In short, I had some knowledge of the guitar when I started reading this book but a lot of gaps existed since my knowledge was acquired piecemeal here and there from disparate sources. This book has been a great resource in connecting those dots. I highly recommend!

Great Guitar Book For Understanding the Guitar
This is a very good book in the understanding the entire fretboard of the guitar through intervals and arpeggios along with establishing a good foundation to build on. Once you understand how the intervals and arpeggios are laid out, you will have the basics of creating licks and long runs in various ways i.e., towards the bridge, towards the nut, horizontally and vertically on the fretboard. The exercises are designed to make use of the cycle of fifths/fourths which will lead to improving one’s improvisation skills. And once you are able to go through the entire book, you will discover that the book will serve as a good reference guide.

A complete guide broken into digestible sections
An excellent book for those of us trying to get a good sense of the guitar fretboard. As to its topic of fingerboard geometry by methodology of intervals and arpeggios, the book is complete, covering all of the fundamentals. At the same time, it is broken down into bite-size sections - explanation, illustration, and exercises - that explain the material in a size palatable to the average student, without leaving anything out. And, the material is ordered logically and lines up the material commencing with basics first and then more complex concepts that build on and expand on that foundation.

This helps to make playing changes a breeze!
Working through these exercises really helped me lock in ways to improvise solos up and down the guitar neck. It builds a solid foundation for how to find chord tones and I'm finding that helps me to play the changes in chord progressions and opens up ways to be more creative with my soloing.
