An hilarious card game that encourages puns.
Perhaps heaven should forgive us for enjoying a novel game with a grim theme. Each player is a guillotine operator during the French Revolution, aiming to win by decapitating the most valuable nobles lined up awaiting their fate each round - while trying to avoid getting rid of innocent victims and thus losing points. Interactive Action cards played at opportune moments change the course of play, and hopefully help you to get “ahead”…………………… Play this and your happiness will not be……cut short.

Quick to pick up, hilarious to play!
This is a hilarious game, starting with the fantastically illustrated and cleverly titled action cards, through to the fun way you can disrupt other players or steal the best cards before they can. Really quick to pick up, and the huge range of different actions means that every round can go very differently! It doesn't require much in the way of strategy or time, so a great one to introduce to groups when you have a bit of time to pass and want to get into a new game quickly.

A great game, simple to play but with a lot of depth
Probably my favourint card game. Very simple game mechanics but with lot of variation and depth to the game play that alwasy keeps things intersting.

Fun card game for older kids and grown-ups
Great game that brings out the competitive spirit. Bought to play with my son when he was learning about the French Revolution at secondary school and it quickly became a favourite game. Quick to learn, easy to play and no two rounds the same. Gets more strategic the more you play.

Great Game
I really enjoy this game. It is simple, quick and fun -- perfect for a lazy afternoon with the family. The only downside to the purchase was the long delivery period. It came from a third party vendor and despite the hefty delivery charge it took a very long time to arrive. In this day and age, it could have been a lot better.

Clever and Fun - brings out the competitive spirit in you!
A brilliantly clever card game that's a lot of fun to play. Whilst it needs more thinking and planning than many card games, it's easy for beginners but watch out if you or your friends are competitive, this game really does pitch you against each other!

Pros - Easy to learn and teach. - Fast to setup and play (less than 30 minutes). - Small table space is enough to play. - Replayable because of the variety in the order of point cards (nobles) as well as action cards that appear from game to game. Some point cards even have effects does affecting the gameplay. Action cards also changes the game in a way thus making each game unique. - Not multiplayer solitaire. Since there is an ordered line of cards which will be get by each player on their turn, all players want the best card from the same line of cards, creating a competition on that by playing action cards that could change that line on their turn. Most action cards also affects other players directly in other ways. - Very fun to play! The effects of the action cards are very fun to plan around and execute. Getting a point card (noble) is exciting as you collect sets of cards that you need to score more. Neutral - Especially nowadays in the connected world, and a softer world, where everyone has a negative comment, the theme might be seen as a negative. I don't mind it because during the game, while it is thematic, it doesn't feel like you're "killing" someone, it just feels like you're "collecting" a card. This is because of the simplicity of the game which makes it feel very light. - No tiebreaker. On my first game as a 2-player game, we both scored 45 points! I don't mind it, I actually prefer no tiebreaker in games because if both of you scored the same number of points, then no one can actually brag about it as it's the same number of points regardless of what tiebreaker rules are there :) Cons - In my collection, including those that I already sold, I had a total of around 67 board game boxes. Want to know what's the most useless one? This Guillotine's box! To emphasize, the art is good, the box itself looks nice, but it's useless. It isn't the usual "open the lid" type of box but rather like the cereal boxes. For you to insert the cards, you have to trust gravity to not scatter them upon landing at the bottom of the box. That isn't even the worst part! If you sleeved your cards, then just burn the box because it wouldn't fit any (since there is also the cardboard for the executioner inside the box). I just put my cards separately in a paper bag. - The additional executioner cardboard could have been just the box itself! If you already saw how Tiny Epic games do it, they maximize the usage of even the boxes themselves. I don't mind additional components if there is enough space in the box, but if the box itself is already trash, then that is where I have a problem. They could have even just designed an insert that also converts to the executioner, instead of a totally separate executioner in a useless thin box.

This is such a fun game. I've played it in the past at friends and when I saw it on special I had to get a copy for myself. The game mechanics are so tied in to the theme and setting that everything just 'feels right' - and though some may not like the random effects that some of the cards have, I personally love it as it means new players have just as much chance of throwing down a game altering set of cards as someone with much more experience. This is one that is fun to take out after dinner to have alongside wine or coffees while chatting.. it's not super competitive unless you make it itentionally so and there's enough modifiers to the cards that even if you think you know how many points your competitiors currently have - you may end up with a slightly different result. Love it.

My family plays a lot of games. From long-session games like Pandemic, Catan, Risk and Ticket to Ride to shorter quick-hit games like Munchkin, Pente, and Bananagrams and lots of card games including the Fluxx series, Monopoly Deal, Anomia, Dutch Blitz and yes, Exploding Kittens. Guillotine from Wizards of the Coast is one of our favourites this year. Fast paced and easy to learn, you can get through a full single game in about 15-20 mins. or so. Taking the French Revolution as backdrop, with players representing rival guillotine operators, this is a humorous and fun card game. I only wish there was an expansion pack for the action cards - after a half dozen games or so you want to see more twists in the game. Overall though, highly recommend. Arrived on time as promised.
