Exceeds my expectations.
I was expecting something that was only moderately playable, but ended up pleasantly surprised. The keys are not too small for average adult hands. I was surprized to see the option to play it with BOTH hands (by way of the longer mouth piece) ... and so far, I have been playing it exclusively in that manner.I examined the chromatic scale... and found the (*relative) tuning 100% satisfactory. The only issue I've experienced so far is that some chords do not sound clearly (where the individual notes otherwise are very clear). I believe, however, this is a function of the physics of the instrument... and is not due to any bad design.* I have not checked tuning against any 'absolute' standards, like A-440. Something to save for a rainy day.

Bought 2 of these
So my grandkids were each given a Melodica (thru Amazon) for Christmas. But how do you play it??? They play the piano so the Melodica will not be so difficult, right? This is such a wonderful instrument -- one I had never heard of before. I also purchase music (through amazon) so I think my grandkids will catch onto this instrument quickly. And, they can carry it anywhere -- certainly can't do that with a piano. Clean, pretty, simple to use. When the kids' air runs out (from blowing on it), it goes back into the quality case until the next day. There are some wonderful Youtube videos showing how to use these. I'm eagerly awaiting my next concert.

Good Melodica for beginners. Decent sound and fun to play
I saw some complaints about tonality with this melodica, but I didn't experience this at all. I'm a seasoned musician with a pretty good ear and I can't see any problems with tuning. Seems fine. I guess that some leave the factory with issues. This is a nice product but it is a bit on the cheap side. All parts are basic plastic (except the actual reeds I guess). The melodica plays nicely. I can play solos and chords although if you don't have strong lungs the chords are more difficult, but still doable - even four + notes at the same time.It comes with the short mouthpiece which you can rotate. This is cool because you can play it at a variety of angles. It also comes with the typical melodica pipe. I also liked the hand strap on the underside of the instrument. There's also a valve to let moisture out.The case is a nice touch too although it's very compact so no space for other equipment. I say this because i've seen other melodicas that come with cases that have some extra space. This is obviously a minor detail. All in all the product seems to fit the price. You can have fun with it and see if you enjoy the melodica experience in the first place before buying a better one. If you already own a melodica, then you should probably aim for something better since this is an entry-level one in my opinion. If you care about looks then this one has lots of appeal. People respond to the color scheme.

Hohner Fire Melodica
I purchased the Fire Melodica and I have to say for 55 bucks you really can't beat it. The Melodica itself is solid and well built and from some basic testing is pretty much in perfect tune. The package came with a red hard shell case that has spots to hold the mouth piece and the extension tube. Overall I am very satisfied with my

just what i expected
seems to be in tune and everything works... no problems. I have no idea what more you would want from a melodica... maybe a different tone from buying a wood one, but if you are concerned about things like that. Could you get a melodica that is just as good and cheaper... most likely but i don't know. if you want this one it works great, get it.

As Loud as a Trumpet!
This is a VERY loud instrument. It is essentially a horn. I bought this because I heard someone playing one at an outdoor cafe and it sounded wonderful. Now I know why he was playing it outdoors. Playing it my apartment would annoy the heck out of my neighbors so I have no place to practice it. I'm going to sell it or give it away to someone who has someplace to practice. Not good for city dwellers unless you have a place far removed from neighbors!
